Just been on a facebook group & someone posted a Motorolo Pet Monitor. I did a little checking & found a much cheaper one on Amazon. Ideal for watching your piggies from another room.

I must be a bit tight but for that price would rather just sneak in their room and watch them:lol!:

Someone I know has something similar as they run a Lurcher rescue and she can look online and see what they are doing when she is out and about.

Me too, it was pricey aswell, about £130 but would be so handy if one was ill as I could monitor them from work.

I want one .....i would like to check up on the menagerie in my breaks when i am at work!

This one you can get for about £30 but the one I saw in a f/b group was being sold by the RSPCA for £99.

I have just ordered the Tenvis one, the reviews are mixed but it is mainly to do with technical issues with setting up so we should be ok as have technical gurus we can ask. Have ordered from a trader on eBay. Will update with how it is etc once set up. Is mainly so we can monitor any poorly pigs or hamsters.

Ohmigod, I always say to OH can we install some kind of web camera I would love to see what the piggies are up to when I'm not with them! … genus

I would like to think so, we have a wedding next year and hopefully would be able to monitor them then but we are not sure we can stay overnight anyway unless we can get someone to do the heart meds for us.

I think with the right software you could watch them online with your laptop or tablet. I'm thinking about recording mine when they don't know you're watching them. Should get some lovely clips.

Yes definitely, am hoping to watch on my phone too. Will be great for checking up on them at work. Looks like the app can use a lot of data so need to remember to only use it briefly and then kill it. Dread to think what they will get up to.

We've often talked about getting a little camera for the hutch (like the bird nesting box ones) but I don't think I'd ever get anything done as I would be watching them all the time

I love this idea as I'm convinced I dont see the whole picture would love to know what they do when I'm not there. Would be fantastic for pairs having scuffles so you can see if they are in need of separating etc..

It's an IP Cam, the most reliable in the consumer price bracket would probably be on by Foscam for about £50, although as they're IP cams they can be accessed from outside the local network if you don't firewall it, which is convenient but there are security risks associated too, they are essentially networked computers and are open to the same threats as a PC or phone.

Generally you access them via a web browser, but there are desktop and mobile applications of varying quality to view the feed and control the pan/tilt etc. They usually also tend to have active 'night vision' using IR, although that's also sometimes ropey.

Someone may see someone else wandering in their pants just saying goodnight to their piggies!

So I need to firewall it? Does that involve loading software? I did nearly get the Foscam one.

Just realised that you meant to be able to access it remotely it should not have a firewall. I would be viewing through an app on my phone.
