As the post says- I took in a lovely ridgeback boar in October who had a large lump on his side - paid £85 for a consult and biopsy, only for it to come back "inconclusive" - my regular piggy vet thinks it is very probably a hernia,as he can feel a hernial ring - an op could possibly be risky so he is on metacam twice a day for 10 days to see if this helps ,but he is still doing the odd squeak when pooing 2 hrs after I have given him the metacam - wondering whether it might be better to operate on him now while he is young and healthy before it gets any worse - lump has grown a bit since I took him in in October- has anyone had any experience of this?

Hywel has had what I think is a couple of small episodes of hernia (soft lump in the groin area), but they have disappeared after a few days/weeks again all by themselves. I saw Simon the first time and he said that the lump wasn't big enough to risk an exploratory op.

Sorry I can't help you more, but I would have him seen by your vet if things have got worse and not better.
