Anyone else have a 'Piggy Fund'?

I remember some clever person posted here ages ago about a piggy bank acount. With my birthday money, I'm setting one up, then I'll always be prepared for unexpected vet bills and such. Anyone else got one? How much do you have stored up? So far, I've got £40! Yay!

I have a mini ISA and put £75 a month away.....I have 10 piggies and a rabbit though :)) I have insurance for my rabbit incase something expensive crops up.
 
Yes, I have one which always has a minimum of £50 in it. I add into it whenever I can since, when a pig gets ill, it's there that I take the money from and not "rent account" where bills come from.
 
I have a Halifax Web Saver account - not the best one, would prefer one with a card I can use for chip 'n' pin, but at least it means I can put money away that is to be untouched for any purpose other than piggie medical bills. I can still get money out at a cash machine with the card I have, I just can't use the card to pay, but at least it is a start!

I have around £400 in it at the moment, that is for 10 (going on 12) pigs. My aim is to get up to a few thousand, probably take me a few years though!
 
I do especially with having a few fosters, I have mine with lloyds though and its just an internet saving account called 'save the change'. If you paid by your card and it came to say £1.75 it would round up to £2 and put the 75p in the saver account if that makes sense :)) so can save all the little bits and bobs too
 
'Tigger' one of my past cats got into a bad state on a sunday, (we dont know what happened but he was just coughing up loads of blood and my dad had to climb over the railway fence to get him). We called out the emergency vet and it cost 160 pounds to get the vet out to have him put down and out of pain. That was in the 1990's and at the time I earned just over 60 pounds a week as I had started my first job. It was awful losing him like that, mum and dad were skint at the time so I had the additional worry of trying to find the money to pay the vet (thankfully she understood and was ok about it). I dread to think how much calling out the emergency vet would cost now!

So if you can save anything, no matter how small it will all count when you need it. My 'emergency' money is in an ING Direct account and I have to call and they will transfer it to my current account so it stops me being tempted to spend. No matter how big or small your piggie bank is when the time comes where you need it, you will be relieved that you did put something away. I like the idea of calling it a 'Piggy Bank'!
 
this is such a good idea.
i have a big, un-openable, money tin with "tuition fee fund - pay by degree" on it, maybe i'll get one for a piggy fund too! :)
 
Forgot to mention that since hitting three pigs, my "piggie fund" has increased to a minimum of £150, £50 for each pig in case they all get sick at once. :)
 
I have a jam jar in the kitcken and money goes in their, especailly any money found in the house and on one knows whos it is! :) also save all the pennys in the "guinea pig fund" soon adds up.
