I've been a piggy slave for almost nine months, and I have never once cut their nails. The sanctuary from where we adopted them will clip them for free for the rest of their lives, and even though it's 45 minutes away, we always go there! I can't help it! I'm just so nervous that I'll hurt them! Especially since Eleanor has one black foot and Elvira, one of our new girls, has four!

Please tell me I'm not the only one! :xd:

Up until two months or so ago I took my two to the vet to have there nails cut but it costs the same to get each piggies nails cut as it was to get my cat's claws done which is ridiculous so I decided to try to do them myself, first time went amazingly well and they were so well behaved but when I cut their nails yesterday Patchy let out a yelp and I expected to see blood everywhere but there wasn't a drop (I think she was just being a drama queen) and I got a nice bit finger for my efforts. I'm thinking if she's going to bite from now on it will be back to the vets for nail clipping lol.

I refuse to cut my piggies nails because Blitzen is a damned menace and I'd lose a finger, or my sanity...or possibly both. They get theirs done at the vet.

Waaay too scared! Tried when they were younger and had softer nails but now enlist the help of our wonderful pet sitter. I hold them, she clips their nails.

Three of my lot are a dream for nail clipping.
As long as they have something to munch they barely move.

And then there is Ruby.
It takes 3 people to do her nails, and every time is a stressful nightmare.
But our vets charge a fortune for a clip, so the reality is that we just have to do it ourselves.
But if I could get someone else to do it I would.

I’ve done mine since I was 11 (with my brother holding pig) so I’m happy doing it but my current 3 are much less obliging than my old three (we had another but she had hers cut at the vet, as I was younger and she was a black-clawed drama queen!) my OH holds the pigs and I cut, but we always use food and he always wears garden gloves! One of my girls is all white and she’s the biggest wiggler, one is all black and she’s the most helpful -generally, and one has three white and one black paw.

Lol. As long as you watch you don't cut down to the quick, it's fine. I do mine myself...out of 5 piggies there is only one foot I can't get done in one sitting. I did about 30 piggies and rabbits one afternoon in the sanctuary where I used to volunteer, which gave me some confidence. I've only ever cut a tiny bit too short twice.

Too scared to try, especially with the curly nails.
Mine get a trip to the vet nurse for a manicure every 2 months and she checks them over as well. I get charged £5 per piggy.

Oh, I know! I know it's probably irrational, but it still makes me too nervous to try, especially with one pig's black foot and another pig's four black feet! I'm just terrified of causing my babies pain, so I'd rather someone else do it if necessary! :xd:
