Heyy

Hey I use to feed my guinea pigs these, they are quite a weird shape but look quite like a flower. (With four 'petal' looking things.) Hehe I know this isn't a very good despcription, but hope it helped! :))

lol - I know the ones you mean (I worked in the small animal unit of my local RSPCA and saw these pop up once, but never saw the packet!).

I guess I should explain lol I'm looking for something suitable for putting in my pigs treat balls - they're fed burgess which is too big, and Jeff won't touch the smaller blackcurrant and oregano pellets!

The SS Selective are about the same size as the large Burgess nuggets so I don't think they'll fit either :(

they always looked really low quality to me? lol the P@H nuggets are small but do I really want to go in there.....

The SS Selective, in my opinion, are the best dried food and a lot of vets recommend them. There's nothing wrong with the Burgess either but I think the SS Selective are a little more balanced in terms of nutritional values and one of our boars has some real digestion issues (he had a really bad reaction to an anti-biotic once and has never really got over it).

Anyway, to return to the main topic. The oregano and blackcurrant pellets are fine and our two used to love them. With any food, a piggy might not take to it right away but if you give them time they usually come around.

As for going in to P@H, I have no problem with it. We get most of our food there because it's fairly cheap and has a massive range. Plus we get too look at piggies and degus x)

I know other forum members have had horror stories from various P@H and I think it depends on the store. Besides, if I see something not quite right, I have no problem with (politely) kicking up a stink about it and I think that we all should.

The SS I think look like they have a higher fibre content. my 3 boys love the oregano and blackcurrant, I used to mix a 4kg bag with a 10kg bag of ordinary burgess, but little Jeff always picks out the normal ones, and leaves the blackcurrant and oregano ones!

As for P@H I go in occasionally and have a nosey when I'm waiting to pick my sister up from school...I went in on Wednesday and everything seemed fine to me - but they had the most ADORABLE ginger and white aby boy in the adoption centre and I fell in love..... THATS why I'm not sure if I want to go in there! lol

:( But you know you want to really before someone else snaps him up ?/;)

Wagg Optimum pellets are small, but they might be too small, they seriously are teeny, 1/4 the size of a burgess pellet... Which is why I think my pigs eat them over the Burgess; none of that breaking it up first effort, just shove it in and chomp!

The P@H pellets are quite small too, about the size of the blackcurrant and oregano ones I think!

trust me, I'd LOVE to! but I physically don't have enough room for another set up!

:(|) We kept saying that with six - now have 10 of the little dears :x Would love two more but really have to be practical (she says ;)) Caught OH muttering to himself the other evening about extending our huge set up - maybe if I leave the tape measure lying around over the weekend...rolleyes
