I really in love with the himalayan guinea pigs and I would love to hear if any have any exsperience with them, I'm thinking there themper and behaouvier.

I read some place that they are very lively and curios piggies.

I'm not sure that this is the correct place to do this tread.

I have two himilayan cross guinea pigs as you can see in my picture they both have very different personalities, toshiko is an explorer and loves to look around and explore new things, she not afraid to give me a nibble if I am in her way, and chihiro is more laid back and lazy, she prefers to just sit on my lap and cuddle than exploring (:

Every pig has different personality. I find mine to be a bit skittish but once being stroked, he stretches right out like a little sausage. He is very curious and makes little noises when exploring. He's a proper rumbler too. He gets all huffy with the other pig and waves his bum around. This is quickly followed by lots of pop corning. Very excitable boy.

We don't have one, but have always thought that they looked very cute. Especially the ones with the black noses! I love Ralphie. :)

I'm afraid of getting a to lively pig and here I Denmark they don't get breed very much, so I would have to import, but I would feel more comfortable seeing the pig first.

But their so pretty and I also love their little black noses.

I'm not convinced there is any connection between colour/coat type and temperament. I think a pig's behaviour is more likely to be based on it's age, the temperament of it's parents and how it has been reared and handled since birth. Any pig is going to take some time to settle in and get used to a new environment. Why are you concerned about a pig being too lively?

In some species there are temperament traits and physical traits linked with colour, such as syrian hamsters dom spots have smellier seasons and mink/sables are on the most part significantly more characterful than a grey who are known for being exceptionally laid back for example. All animals deserve a home and you may well find himis in a rescue :D

My first piggies were Himalayans - gorgeous, really friendly and practically bomb-proof!

I'm sorry I havent answered this tread a while, i currently sick.

I was thinking of betting a pig from a shelter, but I also love the himis.
I all case I would get to piggies, one female and one neutered male, so one could be from a shelter and one maybe himi.

But Is all just thoughts for now. :-)

I got a rescue himi called amy. She was a lovely pig but sadly had been badly mistreated previously so I do not know how much are her personality was environmental. She was a mum previously too. She lived with my rescue boy tiger.
