Hello,

My guineapigs have got mange mites, they had their second treatment approximately four days ago now.

Generally i have only noticed a difference in attitude, my older pig who it affected the most is slightly happier since the second dose,

but i was really wondering how long it'll take for the fur to grow back on the bald patches? And how long should I wait for hair to grow before i seek medical help for them again?

Can my rats who live in the same room catch mange mites off my pigs?

finally, my youngest pig is a merino, he has a very very thick long coat and he's ripe for a bath! How long should I wait before bathing him?

thank you :)

My Rosie had mites a few months ago, and she had hair loss on her back, tummy and neck. She looked very bald and out of condition (She is a swiss-cross ) so semi long hair and it was really noticeable.
We treated with xeno450 and after the second treatment she was itching alot less , it took several weeks before we started to see any hair growth but I would say it probably took a month or two before she was back to normal. After the third treatment we waiting a few days and then used gorgeous guineas shampoo and melt. We were advised to use 'aloe melt' for her dry skin and 'manuka and neem' shampoo for the the itchy dry skin left behind. The change in her after the melt and shampoo was amazing she was a much happier piggy.
Unfortunately she has mites again and has a bare tummy now, she is due her 2nd treatment of xeno450 on Monday so I'm expecting to see some improvement within a week or so- well at least no more hair loss and less itching. Just to add insult to injury, two of my other girls have possible fungal infections- just waiting on confirmation from the vet next week, but it looks like we've been hit with everything at the moment. x
