Has any of you lost your motivation for keeping your piggies.

I know I have. But this only lasts me a couple of days. I hate it when it happens but I know it will past.

Should point out. I still feed them and everything.

But I dont really interact with them that much. Generally just leave them to get on with things

I don’t lose motivation with my furries (I have two piggies and three rabbits) but to be honest, they (the piggies) don’t like too much interaction with me anyway so they are left to interact with each other and to just be piggies! I sit in the shed and watch them rather than handle them much myself.
I do, however, find I lose motivation with my two aquariums. Like you with your piggies, it doesn’t last long, but I go through periods with one of them in particular when it is just more work than joy

I've had my girls nearly 2 years now I think.

I've given up trying to handle them ect. It seems to stress them out alot. But one does let me give her a pet. I've got to bribe the other two though lol

Sometimes I have days when I just feel exhausted and not willing to do anything, but I get on with it because I know the guinea pigs are waiting/hungry and it's lovely to see them peering up looking for pea flakes in the morning. :)

I don't hold them too much either, they aren't very happy being held after a few minutes so I usually just stroke them while they're in the cage.

I can relate but with the fish aquarium. Glad to know this is temporary…..I'm new to Cavies, so I guess if that happens to me I'll know it's normal and won't feel too guilty.

Sometimes I feel a bit overwhelmed when I should be working but there is a poop filled piggy mansion with over 28sqft of poopy fleeces in need of brushing and washing... and poorly piggies are stressful too, we've been giving Blod 2 medicines twice a day for 2 weeks now and only today does she seem a little better... but otherwise I think piggies are a good fit for my family and lifestyle, I like how they just get on with doing happy piggy things and dont require much input from me except hay and veggies!
Having said that there are various things I do lose motivation with, because they require endless constant input... husbands, children, students... and dogs and cats when I had them when I was younger... I like piggies much better lol... but piggies really aren't what you might expect from how they are portrayed on social media, they really arent cuddly or friendly with hoomans mostly, I imagine many folks are disappointed that they are mostly skittish little poop machines that smell of wee and dont like being stroked!

I admit to losing motivation occasionally when the poop builds up in the cages and I have to change them out. The laundry isn’t an issue particularly on dry days because then I can hang it outside.

They are my first pet (we used to have cats and dogs when I was younger but I don’t remember them) and I think they fit in with our household.

I lose motivation with everything EXCEPT my piggies. They are what keep me going, they really are. My whole house could crumble, but as long as my pigs are OK it's all that matters

I occasionally loose motivation with my snake but that's just because the next thing that needs doing for him is getting him a bigger vivarium that I can't afford right now. I have mental health issues that often means I go through weeks where I lose interest and motivation for everything but generally if I can get up and get dressed I can do the cleaning and feeding for the piggies. I do sometimes worry that if I get rabbits (I really want rabbits and will hopefully get some in the next year/18 months) that it will take away from the motivation I have for socialising with my piggies.

I sometimes lose motivation when it comes to cleaning them out but not so much as with everything else I lose motivation for.
As above, I also suffer with mental health issues so can sometimes go a week or more without cleaning or barley getting dressed but my piggies are always fed, watered and clean. My animals are what gets me up in the morning

Yep definitely agree with @Claire W, my piglets are what get me out of bed in the morning! With my epilepsy, anxiety and depression things do get on top of me sometimes, the last few months with lots of grieving on top too after losing 3 of my special girls, but I hear those noisy beggars first thing and it’s their way of kicking me up the butt I think!
Although then I have to look at the fish tanks which have been an utter nightmare recently!
Sure we all have our bad days so don’t feel bad @Skullblits. My two piglets really aren’t too keen on handling and I can rarely touch them in the cage, compared to my Jess and Rupert that were big cuddlers and much more chilled around me! So I pretty much leave them to it as well (unless it weigh ins, nails etc), they’re happier that way!

I'd like to clarify I have a lot of help from family and friends when I can't do things by myself and the pet care is my greatest joy and he last thing to go when I lose interest and even if I can't motivate myself I will make sure the jobs get done. I realise this post makes me sound like a terrible person but I was having a really bad day when I wrote it. I can't wait to get bunnies but it will not draw away from the love and care I have for my boys if anything the boys will be happy because I'll be a little less smothering and needy for cuddles and attention.

There are some days when I come home from work and wish I could fall face first into bed instead of having to clean out the pigs, but once it’s done and they’re both happy and on fresh fleece and with fresh veggies, I always get a huge wash of contentment knowing that they’re happy and comfortable and safe 🙂

...then I fall face first into bed!
