My first piggie george has been potty trained (well mostly anyway).

He originally lived on shavings as I knew no better & that was what the pet shop advised. I managed to potty train him for when he was in his playpen by fishing out his poos and weed sawdust and putting it in his litter tray. after a while I stopped having to do this and he went in there automatically. i even managed to stop the shavings and use an alternative litter.

The problem is I have a new piggie which has been on vetbed from the start. How do I train he where to go as obviously don't want to use shavings on him just so I can have an easier life!

With difficulty!:) I have found that my vet bed piggies poop everywhere, it's almost as if they are so comfortable they can't be bothered to move for anything!

I have put a huge litter tray (base of an old large hamster cage) at one end of their C&C filled with newspaper, megasorb and hay and I put their food bowls in here too. It has helped to cut down on some of the mess, particularly the wee as they tend to "go" when they are eating.

Good luck.

Pigs poop so much it is usually near impossible to train them the poop in one place. I find having a large litter tray under the hay rack is the best solution to minimise on mess outside the litter areas - since pigs spend so much time eating, they pee and poop the most in the litter trays!
