Ok, well I'm still not 100% sure fleece bedding is the way forwards for us but I'm going to give it another go.

They have had it in for 5 days now, every day or two i try and sweep the majority of shavings (from litter tray), hay, food and poo up and put fresh in etc but now my main concern is how do i clean it?

how do you clean yours from taking it out of cage to putting it into the washing machine?

If i put it straight in, it would ruin the washing machine with all the bits of hay. Ive bought a hand held hoover and was thinking about hoovering it up before soaking fleece and towels and then putting it in the wash?

any help would be appreciated thanks :))

I just shake mine outside then peg it to the washing line and use a dustpan brush on it to remove any bits that are left - helps if you hold the fleece taught. The whole lot then goes straight in the washing machine on 30 degrees.

I find shavings a real pain to get off the fleece - so now I put a layer of hay onto of the shavings in their litter trays, this, so far has stopped shavings being spred around the cage.

as mentioned i use a dust pan and brush and shake it outside. you can use rubber gloves also to clear off the hay too as it will cling easier.

I brush mine every mornhing and evennig to keep off excess hay and poop - i dont have hay directly on fleecing either this may help - get a hi bac litter tray or have an area of just carefresh and hay, i tend to find mine poop and wee only in these areas! (i have an upper level for the hay too)

wash the fleecing in a pillow case or get a wash bag from www.hammockyhammocks.co.uk as pillow cases can come undone.

definately shake outside and vacuum. wash at a high temperature i finds with detergent but NO conditioner, then dry, then wash again at a lower temperature so it definately all comes out! line dry if you can. i live in a flat so i have to machine dry

I shake outside, put in a pillowcase clipped with one of those food bag clips from Ikea, stick it in the wash and then shake it again once it's done.

I use vetbed and do similar-brush off hay/poops etc with a stiff hand brush, I put it into a single duvet cover and tie a knot in it and wash at 40 degrees and dry on the line.

have just bought the wash bag, so will see how that goes thanks

another question do you clip the fleece down in their cage? mine seem to be burrowing in one corner and pooing under the fleece :{ at the mo its tucked under the towels etc, but thats not keeping it down. just wondering what everyone else uses thanks

My girls are borrowers, I attempt to weigh it down at the ends with their igloos and litter trays but they do still manage to tuck themselves under at times. I just straighten it out every time I go to them and they wait till I'm gone to ruffle it up again:)

I tuck the fleece up the sides of the correx and it is also weighted down by their houses.
As for cleaning, i use a handheld hoover to clean off the poos each day.

does this work better than a dustpan and brush do you know, for hay etc? i mean the pan and brush work wonders for me! but anything to make my life that little bit easier!

Oh, Is It just me that removes the poo and bits of hay and food by hand

Just getting used to fleece here -we've got it in our 2 c+c runs.

We bought a hand-held vacuum cleaner which helps with spot cleaning, specifically for poos. When clean up time comes we use the vac and also just sweep up the little bits of hay with our hands! I find it actually works really well to get those little stubborn bits off. When I get paid i'll definitely invest in a hard-bristled brush too, but hands seem to do really well. Then in a duvet cover and into the washing machine.

and wait until the fleece has dried a bit before attempting to shake it out and brush it outside - otherwise you will get sprayed. yuk. speaking from experience here. Lovely little droplets of piggy wee.

my pro fleece is never wet, it just gets a clean in my routine and if there is a little smell!

I brush mine with a hand brush with a rubberised head & this takes off quite a bit of the fur & hay...I then leave them on the line for a couple of days then wash it in the machine I don't put them in a pilowcase as they kept comming undone & the fleeces would end up in the drum anyway.I just wash them on their own( my Hubby thinks I hand wash them in the sink!)I did have a pigloo but it kept collapsing in on itself & trapping the piggies inside. The cats have now cliamed it but I took the cushion out & the piggies lie on that (or sometimes under it)

ive bought some binder clips to try with the fleece being tucked round, there small pretty patterened ones 45 for £1 from asda so will try them when i do their cage which will **** be on fri now :)

does anyone know why when i put p-r-o-b its come out as **** ? :{

I only cover 3/4 of the cage with fleece, the rest is newspaper, which i replace evryday. I Keep the hay and food up that end so it's easier to clean up.

The handheld hoover is just for cleaning the poo's up. But have to agree a dust pan and brush work just as well :)

wash bag arrived today :)) so will put fresh fleece etc on today for them

ive also bought a small roasting tin from £1 shop that I'm going to put hay in so it doesnt get dragged everywhere, thats the plan whether or not it works ill soon find out no doubt

cleaned it out, the bottom towel was bone dry which i thought was great, took forever to clean out though which at the moment i have the time but in a few weeks i may not get 2 hours to spare for a cage clean but we shall see.

I brushed the hay etc off as much as i could, tried a handheld hoover which wasnt fab but took at tiny but up before i broke it :red so with the bit i couldnt get off i just shoved the fleece in the wash bag and its come out pretty clean, still got a bit of hay etc on but when i get a new hoover ill try and hoover that bit off.

so ill give it another week ....
