Hi.
So we had a bad couple of weeks with my youngest boy (approx 8mts old, 700g). Long story short, we reached point when our vet cannot perform surgery he needs. Xray today, suspecting bladder stone (and has hernia!). He's being referred to Sergio at Manor vets. Any experience? They're not on your list. I've contacted vets from your list, but because of the current situation I can't get him in and one of the vet practice actually said Manor vets is the way forward.

I am shocked with the bad health this little fella has. I have 9yrs old boy who's healthier than him 😔
He had lots of treatment for ringworm when he was little, before I adopted him.
I've ordered the cystease capsules you've recommended. Will start filtering water (never though of that!), they're on low calcium pellets anyway. So not sure what caused it, whilst the older boys are thriving?

Sorry your little boy is poorly.
I went to Manor Vets 4 years ago for a second opinion when one of my boars was very ill. They had a couple of vets who were said to be very good with guineas then, but I think they have both moved on since. Sergio I heard was good, but I don't have personal experience with him.
If you're anywhere near Solihull, I would recommend the vet I use there, the practice isn't on the list but the 3 ops including a bladder stone that I have had done there all went very well.

Thank you so much. I am other side of bham, but will travel. Manor said Sergio is the best from all the vets, will see what the referral comes back as. They've mentioned he's not in atm, so might need to try elsewhere x

Sorry, is it Solihull Manor vets?

No, a different practice altogether. 608 Vets in Solihull, I rate Debbie Hope, she is v experienced and has her own rabbits, so more experience with small furries than many vets. She did my Squeaks' neuter.
Hope you can sort your boy soon.

Thanks. Manor just said they can't accept referrals as the certified vet is self isolating 😔 iam getting worried as got turned down by multiple vets so far, corona staff shortages.

It's a bit further but have you tried contacting White Cross Vets in Wolverhampton. Rosie is an absolute star when it comes to guinea pigs and is actually on the recommended list. I saw her only yesterday so as far as I'm aware she is still taking appointments. Their telephone number is 01902 599880 :)

It's actually closer to me I tried them yesterday and was told her appointments are booked 2 wks ahead and can't take more new patients as it's uncertain if they will have staff... They told me they wouldn't take referrals anyway, to go to Manor for that. Tried several vets, including willows. But was told Amicus vets is great and did surgeries like this before. I am waiting to see if they can do it as he's only 700g, my vets is sending all the history and xray so they can let me know. Hopefully will be done on Friday, fingers closed.

Best of luck, hope you are able to get an appointment somewhere soon!

Ah yeah sorry I should have said that Rosie does fill up very quickly. I see her every few weeks near enough so I can pretty much always guarantee an appointment with her. Fingers crossed Amicus can help you out, I've never heard of them before but if they've got history of doing that type of surgery before then it's a good sign.
