....in a hutch which isnt in a heated shed, please consider bringing your piggies inside as the weather is set to be extremely cold even down here in the South. Forecast is minus 6 tonight here near London. I can't bear the thought of pigs outdoors in those sort of temperatures even with a cover or blanket, they can't tolerate it that cold :(

Well said, my parents would always bring our first two in from a heated shed in the winter, just incase it was too cold;)

Brrrrrr -6 thats chilly! Mine are snuggly in the front room. they would turn into little piggy popsicles if I put them out there

mine are in a shed with lots of company, hay, and a snugglesafe. wish i could bring them in but not got space. they are happy with things as they are especially now got some fresh farmers hay 8:)

I agree Fi! All mine are in the shed except Lyra and Leia who didn't take kindly to the dip in temperature. But we are bringing them all in (did plan on doing it this weekend, but just haven't had the time with family coming to visit after Christmas and taking decorations down, everything has to be done over the weekend when Peter is off) but starting tomorrow I can bring them in gradually. Its mild here at the moment so not overly concerned and they are snug its just with loosing Elora its made me a little worried about them. :)

Just checked the weather mild night tonight 2 degrees but Tomorrow is minus 5! Defo going to move them tomorrow me thinks! Just keep a check guys as the weather can change up and down so quickly. :)

If anyone is unable to bring their piggies indoors for whatever reason this link gives you tips on how to keep them safe and warm.

At the rescue we do not rehome to anyone who keeps piggies outside in winter but we are realistic enough to realise that this is how many guinea pigs are kept.

The snugglesafe heat pads are a real investment too.

Luckily it doesn't get that cold where I am in Australia but the outdoor pigs are put underneath our porch which is sheltered and we always put a tarp around them as well (obviously leaving enough air to get in but not for the wind to get in) we find this works.
