Hi guys. I'm really curious to know what age my rescue piggy is. Is there anyway to tell, or guess? Like with dogs you can look at their teeth and gums, and tell by greying around their face, etc.

Is there anyway to know with pigs? I know my guinea pig Apple never aged at all, and Devlin only aged a little in the last few months.

The best way to hazard a guess is by looking at the feet - the older a guinea pigs is the more twisted and thicker the nails get.

But it is notoriously difficult to judge an adult guinea pig's age. Their teeth are growing/worn down continuously, so you can't go for that. Neither do they get grey hair!

You might spot an old guinea pig, but even that can be anything from 4 years onwards!
