Apple twigs and leaves

Hi

My new run is sited directly under a huge apple tree. I've been told piggies like to gnaw on apple twigs. How much of the above would be too much? If at all.

For instance if they always have apple twigs to chew on would this be harmful? I was thinking of making sure some are in the run at all times. Maybe a small pile from them to play in and chew on to their hearts content.

Also, as far as I can tell the leaves are fine, any thoughts on these?

ok. Done some more digging and it looks like unlimied apple branches will be fine. Wouldn't mind confirmation though if anyone can?

Still unsure about the leaves. They are not toxic, but I am not sure if they are good for piggie digestion or not yet.

piggies eat lots of other leaves so if they are not toxic then they should be fine. my boys had apple twigs yesterday after i posted on here, they loved them but didn't eat them all so i guess they don't eat them like they do hay/greens etc but nibble at them x

Yeah, the leaves are definatly not toxic as far as I can tell. Still worth checking they are not harmful in other ways though, for instance they could be too high in calcium for example.

My guess is they will be fine in moderation, and I am sure someone will put me right if thats incorrect

Going to make them a nice little twig pile tomorrow!

Looks like we are fine with the leaves:

Any of our usually berry bushes - raspberry, blackberry, currants...

PS: apple leaves and twigs can be fed as well.

Just be aware that dried leaves contain a lot more clacium and should be fed accordingly - more in pinches or as an occasional treat.
