I've just been pruning my apples trees to remove all the over-long young growth, as one does in winter. I now have a massive pile of twigs and branches to be disposed of!
Does anyone have piggies who love to nibble applewood? I'd be very glad to put some in jiffy bags and post it to anyone who would like some :) (Or deliver some to anyone in range of me - but I don't think many are!)

Could I get a few? The goblins have been a bit unsure about these things before but I think they'd probably like them given half a chance.

What a lovely kind thought.
Mine aren't keen on any wood to chew. I often wish they are were when I see my daughter's apple tree!

Hi

I would be interested. It's good enrichment.

I might have taken you up on this offer, as mine are all keen on these and I think it helps keep their teeth in good shape. But a neighbour wanted some help pruning her apple tree recently and I said I would do it, and take the wood away, so now I also have a sackful :)

Can the twigs be from any apple tree and do you have to do anything with them before giving them to the guineas? 🤔

I think any variety of apple would be fine, just new growth which is still bendy. Also I wouldn't use it if the tree has been sprayed with any chemicals.
I would probably wipe the twigs with a damp cloth before giving them, just to ensure there's no traces of bird poo etc on them.

I'd love some please, if you still have any left!

We have to go out trapesing in the mud to find orchards, to get ours because our two (Well used to be two! 😞 ) boys love them!

Either that or we spend £20 on ebay for a box.....Well actually we've not long ago bought a box, so don't need them desperately if others want them and there's not enough to spare!

If you still want some, I can send both you a bundle. Sorry, been a bit busy the last couple of days. I've still got quite a lot of small prunings, and Wiebke says they're fine to give to piggies at any time after cutting so long as they haven't started to go rotten.
If you do want some, PM me your address and I'll post some to you.

Thank you so much, have sent you PM! 😘
