hi,

does anyone give their piggies apples? if so how do you give them? our babies just love apples and i usually chop them, but i was just wondering if is was safe for the core to be included, so i could put into a ball feeder. thank you :) :)

i usually cut them into pieces and don't give them the middle, what about getting a corer and taking out the core? think pips / seeds are a no-no, but a corer would surely be perfect x

I give my piggy's apples every now and then. I try not to give it to them too much though because of the sugar and them being quite acidic.

I also read in one of my guineapig books that too much can cause mouth sores to their sensitive piggy lips!

They like it when it's hot as mine aren't too keen on cucumber and think it might be refreshing for them x

Oh and yes, as above, no pips! ;-) xx

i don't give them that often, but they do like them, but then again, they like most things. they just normally have kale, greens, cabbage, green beans, tomato and spinach. occasionally they are treated to sweetcorn (on the cob), and i do put a large lump(?) of brockley in their hay rack (just to keep them occupied). thank you for your help. i will now try to get an apple corer.

thank you again

I give them one apple between them every 2-3 days (which is not a lot per piggy), about the same as I give a small piece of tomato. Becuase they aren;t getting much, I have never had any problems with sores.

I chop the apple into 8, and take out the core. They have 1 slice each, once a week.
