Hi

Just procrastinating on work this afternoon (bad me!) and took Cagney for a five minute walk in the garden (on my shoulder not on paw!). When she spotted the leaves on our apple tree and had a quick nibble. She went mad for them but I was'nt sure if they are supposed to eat them so dragged her away, much to her annoyance! Can they eat them? I am assuming so but rather be sure!

Mine have leaves and the odd branchy twigs....along with the buns. With the piggies I only fed them as an occasional treat. I read somewhere that the leaves are quite high in calcium. Mine particularly like them dried...lots of crunching :)

Yes, they are fine to eat, and very good fibre when going brown. If you smell them they have a hint of apple smell, so there is possibly a rather nice taste of apple but without the sugars that apples have - I bet your Cagney was upset with you!

Oh I feel guilty now! Thank you! Tottering off to the garden to pick apple leaves now! She has me wrapped around her paws!

I give mine a twig with leaves, they chew on the twig which is good for their teeth.
