CharlottiesPiggies

Heya! Just got back from April Lodge's open day, I went with my best mate Andy and I took Fergie and Blackberry Pie.

The weather was lovely and warm, a little windy but it was a nice breeze, all the guineas were gorge and it was just a very nice sociable day, everyone thought Fergie was fab, I entered her into the Prettiest Female class and she won over 13 piggies xx>>>xx>>>xx>>> she then came third outta 8 for the Best in Show, she was amazing and calm, Blackberry was a great chaperone and companion.

Met Boureki (Julie) and Marty, they were fab, I met Dillon, he was cool too 8)

PICS TO FOLLOW!

Aww thats fab! Yeah Julie told me about this last week! Wish we had something like this up here in Liverpool! Well done on winning, what was the prize? ^)

Must just add that April Lodge Open Day shows are not actually shows, they are competitions designed to fundraise and raise awareness of their rescue. They include Most Deserving Rescue, Fastest Carrot Eater etc... :)

Dylan came 3rd for Most Deserving Rescue, but failed miserably in the Fastest Carrot Eater ;)

a lovely rosette and a medal after best in show! hehe, it was so nice to speak to other people.

The piggie that won BEST RESCUE was found in a plastic bag by a railway side :0:0:0 its just awful but it was the happiest piggy today

What a lovely way to spend the day and great you met Julie and Marty too.

Always fab to meet other piggy people - I hope they raised some money and it was well supported as these things are alot of work to organise.

Maybe they have even rehomed a few piggies too?

Haha Julie, take Boomer next time he'd eat it in no time I'm sure.

It just sounds lik a lovely day out. I'd take all mine! mallethead

Yes, I bet he would! We wished we had actually taken him, he's such a nosy little blighter, he would have been in his element with all that stuff going on!

Yes, it was lovely to meet Charlotte and her piggies, they're just gorgeous, I especially liked Blackberry, but they were both adorable!

I believe they managed to rehome at least a couple of pairs to people who they had previously adopted out to I think - and there were quite a few people there, stalls, raffle, tombola, games (for the humans!) I should think it was very successful, and of course we met some lovely people and talked piggie all afternoon in the sunshine!

But Dylan was my "go-to pig"... and he let me down? He yanked the carrot from my hand and we lost valuable seconds as I had to recover the broken pieces he subsequently dropped! :))

haha Marty, thats funny!

I erally wanted to go to this, but unfortuantely I have my cousins christening to go to! i am glad everyone had a lovely time. Cant wait to see the piccies.

its nice to hear that hopefully alot of money was raised and that some piggies will soon be off to new homes!

Bless my best mate Andy, i think he was like obsessed with me on Sunday, most of the pics were of me rolleyes but I did take some of my precious Fergie (who we played Fergalicious to all the way home....as she truly is Fergalicious)

Sounds a brill day would be nice if there were all over as i would certainly go if one was local. Love the pic's xx

Oh I love those photos - it's great that so many people turned up too. It's so sweet how everyone is "clutching" their piggy.

Lovely !

Oh she's gorgeous! Looks like a fun day! I wanna move to Kent! :(|)

hehe, well I am sure lots of rescues do this kind of thing, its a brilliant way to raise awareness and get your name out amongst others.

I met a lady there who was only passing through with her daughters and she saw a sign and they had been searching for ages, they didnt know about April Lodge, but by the end of the day they had adopted two boys drooldrool

Hhmmm...it looks very much like a show to me.
What attributes do you think the pet classes at the unmentionable sort of shows are judged on?

It most certainly was NOT the same as an "unmentionable" show. No pigs were examined, poked, prodded or even left their owners arms. I would never, ever take my pigs to a show and don't like them. I hope that clarifies.

No we're not Lindsay (thank goodness!) You can see an ancient pic of me on my profile when I was young and slim however!

sadly not no........
The event was not a show, there was 'fun' classes for all those piggies that have been rescued from centres, and the way they judged the 'fun' classes is not how a normal show would be judged at all.

http://aprillodge.co.uk/ is the website, its a little slow at being updated, they are on the lookout for a knowledgable web person
