A silly question I know, but are dried pea flakes safe to feed to guinea pigs who have IC and diabetes?

I only feed them in moderation like one or two a day maximum.

But my pigs come begging at the bars for them and really enjoy them as a treat.

Both Emma and Ellen have IC and Ellen is also in remission from diabetes although my vet has advised to carry on feeding her a low sugar / carbohydrate diet to prevent her diabetes returning

I like treating them but I don't want to be causing more harm than good

I don't think ONE piece of dried pea can cause harm to them when given as a treat. It is better to cut off all sugars (and carbs which are sugars, too) from daily dose of foods. I would cut off pellets, I don't see any label on pellets boxes which seems to be very low in carbs (if the product has no wheat, it has other components and starch). Carbs are never written clearly.
