fifi and dora are always squeaking looking for food whenever i go near them, they get a handful of pellets each in the morning, a cupfull each of several veggies in the evening and hay all the time.
there is a possibility that they could be preg as i only got them about 4/5 weeks ago from a freeads and in the last couple of weeks they seem to be getting bigger progressively around the tummy area, they also seem to be drinking a lot of water.
whenever i do give them their food they seem to dive on it and eat it ravenously as though they have never been fed, am i doing something wrong? are they not getting enough?

I think Guineas are indeed always hungry, as long as they have hay and pellets constantly available and their daily veg you are doing things right. However I currently have a pregnant sow and she is ravenous so she is currently getting more to eat than the others I visit with her constantly hoping the babies have come and give her lots of grass every time I go

Yes I think guinea pigs are always hungry and will beg for food whenever they get a chance. All my piggies have put on weight fast after I got them and I don't think I feed them more than I should.

One of my girls that I got from the P@H adoption section is absolutely ravenous all the time and I'm still not sure whether she's pregnant (she's been kept with a boar before) or just enjoying her food...

Do you know how old your girls are and whether they've been kept with a boar before?

Mine are the same - as soon as I open the fridge I am greeted with a chorus of squeaks - it doesn't matter that they have already had some veggies this morning, they still squeak for more.rolleyes

My 13 all beg for feed except early in the morning when they are a bit knackered...lol

It made me think am I giving them enough but mine get veg first thing (5 different varieties), an hour later I top up hay an hour later I top up pellets.

I check on them in the afternoon and if they need top ups I give it and after tea around 6pm they get veggies, hay and pellets again but its very rare I have to give 2 handfuls per pig per day.

They are grazers so they are always hunting for food. :)

oh my lilly alloways hurgey

she eats the same amonet as she did when she was pregant

thanks everyone
i got them when they were 12 weeks old and they were in the owners kitchen in their cage so dont know for definate that they werent with males, they did have loads of animals dotted around the premises including two other older guineas. they didnt give me any information about them (nor the rabbit i got from them either) so i guess its a bit of wait and see with them.
have just worked out that i have had them 5 weeks now
