Hi all, I have recently purchased some Toftbo ikea bath mats for my Piggy Pens. They arrived this morning but I'm a bit concerned as the back of them felt different from the front, not so soft. I looked at the fabric details and they are 100 % polyester but the backing is 100% melt glue. Has anyone got any advice. I'm sure you can get them with out this backing. Thank you.

I think they are OK as long as they don't shed little bits of fibre or backing. They probably need cool wash and to keep an eye on wear. If your piggies chew on them, best remove them. They are handy things. I put a pet blanket over mine and they go for quite a long time between washes.

Our Ikea bath mats are quite old, just went to check a label & the words are all washed out.
The top should be noodle like bits, and the bottom should have no backing. If it has a backing the pee won’t soak away.
I wash them mostly at 30C, occasionally at 40C. Not needed a 60C yet!

Here’s a photo of one of ours, folded over to show the back.

I find the Ikea ones are too heavy for the washing machine. I can only wash one at a time with a couple of bits of fleece or it won't spin. Probably not so much of a problem if you don't have a lot of piggie stuff to wash but with 9 piggies in 5 big cages .... I find the B&M or supermarket ones are a bit lighter and easier to wash.

Same here, the IKEA ones are really heavy, I buy mine from Home Bargains. I have had them over a year now and no problems after multiple washes.

I prefer the IKEA ones as the noodles are closer together and shorter than my other mats and are thus easier to clean with my handheld vacuum. It's also better that they are heavier for that reason but I agree that makes them more difficult to wash. I manage to fit 4 mats and fleece in my machine though.

I can fit them in the machine but they won't spin if there is more than one in a load. I wish I could use them as I've got 10 of them going to waste but I just have too much washing and too little time to mess about rearranging loads to help them spin! The Ikea ones are lovely for zoomie piggies as they don't slip around, one day they will get used when there are less piggies and less washing.

I’ve got a bunch of pink noodle mats from IKEA. I bought them about 2 years ago, and they have been my favorite ever since.

The noodle mats are not too thick for the washer and are still thick enough that I don't need anything underneath.

My girls are not ones to chew their bedding so it's never been a problem for me.
