i weigh my guinea pigs once a week and note them down on an excel spread sheet. They dont look normal. they fluctuate quite dramatically and then dont put anything on and then they do and then they dont. is this normal? I feed them half a cup of pellets a day between the 4 of them. they have a constant supply of water and hay and daily veggies. is there anything i am doing wrong?

I don't see anything wrong with their weight to be honest :) They are gaining?

Is that their ages at the side?

I think but not sure it depends on their age, for example, our younger boars are obviously putting weight on as they get older but the older two we have are a nice steady weight, apart from Jericho who isn't well atm, but they usually sit around 1.2kg.

Try not to worry :D It's when they start loosing a lot that you have to worry or when they are overweight.

I'm sure others will post with their opinions.

@helen105281 might be able to advise as well, she has 14 guinea's I believe, I have 10, we try and way them weekly as well just to keep an eye on their weight, Jericho is getting weight a little more often with him being ill.

I run a rescue & have had several babies here over the last few months. I've checked their weight sheets & most were a little heavier that yours at 12 weeks but the good thing is, their weight is steadily increasing so I wouldn't worry too much. You culd get them some Alfalfa hay to help them add weight till they're 26 weeks old :) x

They all seem ok to me, they are gaining each time you weigh them so that's good.

I weighed them last night and now i am quite worried. All but one lost quite a significant amount of weight. I dont know whether it is my scales (i use electronic kitchen scales) or if they are actually losing/gaining this amount of weight:(

It could be your scales, sometimes mine play up. Could you weigh them all again today at a similar time to check? Either that or Twiglet has been pigging out on their food. It just seems a coincidence that most of them have dropped at the same time.

I weighed our boars tonight and they're 517g and 570g respectively. That's increases of 43g and 64g since nine days ago. They are both around 11 weeks old. I'm not concerned about our pigs' weights but maybe I should be....
