I ask because our Jasper never has had a big apetite, sometimes he barely touches his food. He is more of a grazer really, He eats mountains of hay and drinks. His teeth are fine, i checked those. He is happy enough, looks to be a good weight, healthy, clear eyes etc etc etc. Could it be possible that some piggies are just not pigs ?/

Here he is chilling out

Well I have never heard of a piggy who did not love vegetables. Where did you get him? Have you asked his previous owner if they ever fed him vegetables? I wonder if he is not used to it.

May I ask why he lives alone?

Thats possible i suppose, we got him from a rescue. He came from a lady who bred himylayans but had to give them up. He doesnt even have a favourite veg like my other boys. He loves the sweets we sometimes give him but obviously not too often!
He attacked his cage mate pretty badly, so we had to seperate them. hen we tried him with our gentlest boar and he wasn't amused by him either, instant hate even though Teddy was very submissive towards him. He is happy enough in a cage next to the other pigs but chatters if they come too close. We may in the future have him neutered and try him with female, or wait untill he is older (hes only about 15 months old)and try him with another friend. So far he seems happy enough.

Aw poor little baby. Who knows what he has been through. Have you thought of taking him to the vet just to make sure he is okay? It sounds unusual he is not keen on vegetables. How bad the breeder ended up putting him in a rescue. That makes me so angry! There are too many unwanted guinea pigs as it is so no need for anybody to breed.

you give him sweets?!

My Terry isnt as enthusiastic as my other pigs. The others eat the veg in one go but he will sit and graze on it all day long! He LOVES fruit though! I think he has a sweet tooth!

He was extremely timid when we got him. Had obviously never been handled much. Even though he is aggresive with other piggies he is the loveliest little fella, still very nervous and easily upset. I have thought about the vets, just for a check up.

Maybe he is not very happy as everything is all new to him and once he settles in he will start to eat. A check up sounds wise.

Ha ha no, sweets is the wrong word. They are guinea pig treats, very occasionally to get him on side :))

My boys are not big veg lovers, I've removed carrot and apple from their that they don't seem to entertain, but they're mad on timothy hay and everything else:)

Jasper asked me to post some pics, here we go!

Thats Jem, my old cage mate. I didnt mean to hurt him but he was sooooo annoying.
Mam and Dad are taking me friend dating soon, i have been very sad and they realised i am lonely after all. They spoke to my foster mam who has lots of pigs needing homes. I tried to tell them by not eating and not wanting to play anymore. I was happy by myself at first, it was peaceful without Jem. But now i hear my friends playing and it makes me sad. If i dont like the other boys (i am fussy) Mam and Dad will get me fixed (i dont know what that means but Mam says it's a good thing and it wont hurt?) and i will get a girlfriend. Mam and dad want me to be happy. I will have to live outside if i get a wife but thats ok, the hutch looks cosy and i will have someone to snuggle up to. I hope you like the pics, i am handsome arent i?
I will keep you posted about my dating,

lots of love,

Jasper

Oh my... Jasper you are gorgeous! drool I hope you manage to find youself a little friend soon xx
p.s be nice lol

I would not recomment commercial guinea pig treats due to the high amount of sugar, fat and added extras.

Although a check up would be wise, a few guinea pigs do have strange eating habbits and will not touch some kinds of food.

However, normally, it is pelleted food which they refuse although some kinds of fruit and vedgetables are not touched by some guinea pigs.

He's really beautiful! x) I love himi's, good luck with finding him a friend.
A baby boar might work too.
