Yesterday when I was handling Oreo (3 months old) I noticed a 'lump' on the top of her shoulder.
It turned out to be a small scab, which fell off when examined to reveal a small, clean wound underneath (circular and about 3mm in diameter).
I made some sterile saline solution, cleaned it up, and she is absolutely fine within herself.

Today we found one on the back of Eddi's neck.
Same thing, but slightly larger.
I cleaned it up, and once again he is fine within himself.

I am keeping a close eye on everyone, and all four of the pigs are eating, running around, wheeking for veg, etc.

I am assuming these wounds are the result of 'nips' from Lucy and Ruby.
We did witness a dominance battle between Lucy and Oreo a few days ago, although I have never seen Eddi act as anything but peacemaker (and blueberry eater).

I suppose my question is, could there be any other cause for one random scab on a guinea pigs back or shoulder?

I don't want to assume this is from rough housing, and find out later that it is the start of something fungal?

I did try to take a photo, but the wounds are so tiny they didn't work.
Has anyone had anything similar?

it can be difficult to decide initially as fungal often starts as a scabby scratch or bite wound, but then develops quickly over the following days, so you should know in a couple of days. Deep bite wounds usually come in doubles - one needle hole each for upper and lower incisors, about a centimeter apart. Keep a eye out for potential mange mites is another option. burst small cysts are usually larger and more erratic.

You can see the development of ringworm from a plain scabbed scratch wound the day before the first picture in our ringworm guide: Ringworm: Hygiene And Pictures
