hi i am trying to introduce more interesting things to Boris's diet just wanted to check these things to see if they are ok for him
Sunflower seeds ifok what varietys are better?
baby corn?
paw paw?
pineapple?
Blackberrys?
bokchoy?
i didnt know about the pine because it s so acidic just thought i would ask anyway thanks x

Hi pak choy is ok and so is babycorn my lot love both not to sure on the fruits just tend to stick wuth apples, grapes and strawberries for mine hopefully someone else can help with the fruits

I am pretty sure pineapple is one of those that can cause sores, so not too much too often. I have read somewhere blackberries are OK in moderation, I offered one and mine wouldn't touch it rolleyes

Do you like them? I am one of those people that is not a big fan of many kinds of veggies, so if they don't eat them I wasted $$, but the fruit I like :))

Be careful with unpeeled sunflower seed - bits of the seed case can easily get stuck in a piggy's mouth. It's more of a very occasional special treat (like bird seed), as it's quite fatty.

I wouldn't recommend pineapple on a regular base. Never had fresh pawpaws.

But you can pour a little bit of different fruit juices into a saucer, swill it round, lightly drain it and let the pigs investigate the saucer. They don't need new food all the time - just the stimulation.

I don't exactly know how wintery it's getting where you are in Australia, but you might get hold of some cheap bird seed or other grain and sprout that (just sprinkle on some soil on a shallow tray, water in, cover with clingfilm until it's sprouting). That makes a good nibble and come up again treat for a bad day.

Have you tried blueberries with Boris? A lot of pigs seem to go crazy for blueberries. Mine, however, did not. :))

My lot do love babycorn though.
