Are These Safe?

I would be concerned that the piggies could eat the (potentially poisonous) gel. Personally, I only use snugglesafes in the piggy cages.

:agr: I wouldn't feel comfortable using these incase the pig bit it :) maybe it's best to stick with regular snugglesafes x

I wouldn't take the risk, I have some of these type of hand warmers- and they have a gel sort padding inside the knitted part, you know what piggies are like; they try to chew everything! And I would say if eaten/chewed, it would be harmful.
What about buying a snuggle safe? They're not cheaper, but bigger, and are not harmful. On a Black Friday the snuggle safes on Amazon were about £9 instead of it's RRP.

yeah i missed black friday though lol even then £9 is a bit much for me right now, but now they are back up to £15 i simply can't afford them as i need about 4 for my guys. i think I'm gona opt for mini hot water bottles instead with extra fleece round them. my boysaren't that bad at chewing really they tend to only chew the bars and the correx rather than anything else they are given.

As everyone else says, I wouldn't either. But hot water bottles arnt good either, they can actually freeze in cold temperatures, and even if they don't freeze they still become a cold water bottle after a couple of hours whereas the snigglesafes stay warm for up to 10 hours which means almost all night during the coldest temperatures.

Yes they're expensive but if you keep looking online you can sometimes get them for around £10 or cheaper from ebay and other places so just keep saving up then they'll last you forever when you get them unlike other products that wear and tear. I'm the meantime just give them lots of extra shredded paper, straw etc. :)

VetUK tend to sell the Snugglesafes cheaper too and replacement covers are easy to find, Snoozies cozies on Facebook sell them for £2 each. For things like this if I don't have much spare cash I tend to dip into any money I have saved up as a vet fund as it is to do with their health and wellbeing.

I agree with giving them extra hay for now, as they can burrow right into it and keep warm. I am not using Snugglesafes at the moment as the pigs are warm enough but will get them out when it snows or gets icy.
