Yorkie has been poorly since last Wednesday but has started perking up

He started arching his back and making a painful squeaking noise. I have now noticed he is doing this when he is weeing and pooping. He completely went off his food and hadn't eated for a while and so i have been syringe feeding him, but at the weekend he's started eating some veg again (not all) and this morning started nibbling at some dry food too.
When i was syringe feeding him this afternoon he did his arching of the back and made his squeaking noise, and i noticed he's had a wee. When i looked at his wee it was a little grey and when it dried it had gone an orangey colour. However, I am feeding him metatone as well which is bright red so could that have something to do with it?
Are these the symptoms of UTI? What are the symptoms of a UTI?
