Ok, I have a drinking bottle with a sipper tube, and two youngish pigs. I was looking at the bottle level today and it had gone down by about half a centimetre in the whole day. Surely this isn't enough water for them? Can I encourage them to drink more in some way?
I remember when i got piggies i posted a thread about them not drinking any water, now they have settled in they seem to be drinking. They don't drink a lot, as they do get water from the veg, i always rinse the veg them give them it with some water still on it. I wouldn't worry about it, as long as they are drinking some water then its okay.
From the look of the water bottle, they don't appear to have drunk anything today. Thank God I gave them cucumber today! Maybe they are just settling and will drink some more soon. I'll keep an eye out.
I was worried for the same reason when we got our piggies three and a bit weeks ago. But there seemed to be plenty of wee around and they are active so I've stopped worrying. I tried both water bottle and bowl but soon decided water bottle is preferable because I can't change the bowl water several times a day. They were using a water bottle where they were before they came to us. We wondered whether we put the water bottle too low at first. Over the past few days we have seen them using the bottle although they don't seem to want much. I also don't worry about drying the veg completely - I agree they do get a lot of water from vegetables/fruit.
