Are they falling out?

Seems like my Cookie and Prince are starting to fall out. Well I think it's more of sorting out who's the dominant one. It started yesterday afternoon. Prince dashed out of their boxes and went to one box in the corner of their attached run and chattering non stop. Cookie was in the boxes where Prince ran away from. Prince then went out and ran to the other side of the living room where their favorite ratan chair is. After a few moments, Cookie followed him there and they were fine the whole time.

Today, they were fine and they even were out playing in the garden. Until around 5pm when I was ironing in our bedroom. Hubby told me Prince was in the hall running away from Cookie. He was chattering everytime he was around Cookie. It stopped a few moments and then he ran away again to the hall by the kitchen. It seems like he was afraid/annoyed with Cookie. Tonight when he was eating on the 2nd floor of their hutch, he suddenly went down with Cookie following him. He started chattering loudly again and Cookie was like whining in this high pitch noise and just trying to chase him though cautiously. Prince just stayed in one corner and chattering nonstop and trying to ran away from her again. Their bottom floor run is already locked (from 10pm). Then Cookie lunged on him. I don't think she hurt him though. No hair in Cookie's mouth and no blood on Prince.

Should I separate them for the night and try bonding them or such tomorrow? Prince started relaxing after some time when I closed the hutch door where Cookie is at the moment and Prince is on the floor. I don't want them falling out, especially now that we are going on holiday next weekend and they will stay in the boarding place.

Cookie is 13 months and Prince is 12 months. We adopted Prince just February this year to join Cookie and Bunny (before she passed away last month). They both were completely fine after Bunny passed away. It just started yesterday.

Remove any hideys with just one exit. They are obviously having a spat.
Lunging is usually a defensive gesture that literally means a very strongly 'stay out of my space', so there are obviously two sides to the story. Teeth chattering is just a kind of 'I'm really not happy with that'.

If you have a divider, you can use that. I would be somewhat wary about a full-blown separation because once sows have made their mind up that they do not want somebody in their group, (if even the group consists of just themselves), that's it and they won't accept a piggy back.

You might want to have Cookie checked for ovarian cysts; they can often be at the bottom of behaviour like that as my own Heini is just proving again... (And like Cookie not very long before we were due to leave for a family visit)

About the ovarian cyst, is it an urgent thing we need to be checked out or that we can postpone until we return from our 2 week holiday? We are also adopting a baby sow that time and this scuffle/spat is causing me to worry.

We are also adopting a baby sow that time and this scuffle/spat is causing me to worry.

Well they seemed fine this morning. I ended up not separating them. They were both on the 2nd floor of their hutch, on each end, when I went to bed. Hubby said when he woke up this morning, Prince was eating and then went to the other end (where their bedroom is) while Cookie was inside too. No scuffle at all.

Wheew! I hope they just stay like that! I always tell them that I wish they can speak humans so I can easily know whatever is wrong and can solve it accordingly.
