Hi all, I just wanted to ask if anyone else gives there piggies gnaws and other toys that are coloured and if they are safe? I ask as I know alot of things on the market today are sold but are not exactly safe so I am extremely cautious.
Thanks.

Usually colored guinea pig toys are made with non-toxic vegetable dyes and should be safe.

Ahh right. I am just so cautious these days and wanted to make sure. I have been looking at toys on pets at home for Christmas but wasn't sure what to do. I have one piggie who suffers from bouts of bloat and another who suffers from cystitis so I didn't want to give them anything that could flare their conditions up. Thanks for your reply.

They should be safe but are usually a bit of a waste of time - most piggies ignore those kinds of items. Ive not had any animal in 35+ years who has ever shown any interest in them!
Toys and enrichment for my lot are different types of herbs, cardboard tubes filled with hay, forage hidden in hay. Mine do enjoy the odd carrot cottage or hay cube. Willow items are ok as well - they are initially interested in them but after a week or so they just get peed on and thrown out!

I was thinking about a carrot cottage but I always steered clear cos thought Carrots weren't good for them. I might get one of those. It's the wooden gnaw toys that are bright in colour that I really wasn't sure about either.

Carrot cottages are better than the coloured toys. It nothing like eating a whole carrot at a time - it’s stuck on hard so they will only be able to nibble at it.
Hay cubes are the other thing, and the item I tend to get most for mine - it’s just hay and forage flowers inside them.

I am just very cautious due to having two piggies with health issues and don't wanna upset their systems of flare up their conditions. Bloat and cystitis really are a nightmare when they rear their ugly heads as you probably know.

And obviously giving them something they aren't used to, it's the fear of the unknown. I didn't even know that they could have flowers, I learn something new everyday.

The goblins were very suspicious of forage at first, but they love it now that it's not New. Just took them a while to suss it out, lol.
