I'm making yams tonight, so I was wondering if Jellybean can have a taste? And if so, should it be cooked and can she eat the skin or just the inside?

Piggies can eat them raw & they are a good source of vitamin C. As yams also contain heaps of potassium best not to give everyday so having them share your tea tonight should be a nice treat for them. Don't know about the peel though so wouldn't recommend it just to be on the safe side.

Ok good to know! I was just wondering because when my mom had a guinea pig when I was young, she would give her cooked yam every once in awhile and she loved it, but she refused to eat it raw. And she never got sick, the whole 6 years she had her, she was very healthy. But I'm a bit more cautious than my mom was lol.:)

A piggy might eat a cooked veg, but I don't think they can digest it properly. Probably does not make them sick given occasionally but might not give them the appropriate nutrients & fibre. Their digestive systems are more like that of horses would you believe.

Yeah that makes sense. Thanks for your help. I gave Jellybean a taste of it raw, with no skin and she loved it.:)
