Our Henry is such a little climber he's about 4/5 months. Both our pigs climb on top of their wooden houses and have done this since we got them in July.
This weekend Henry has learned during laptime he can climb in and out of his pet carrier (I'm a bit worried he may hurt himself doing this). He seems to enjoy being up high so we are going to build a loft in their c&c cage.

Are any of your pigs climbers?

Both of mine are a bit, but when they were younger, they find it easier to climb on their house roofs lol. Funny little

Yes Bill and Ted are both climbers. At laptime they both climb up onto my shoulder and chest for a cuddle, they seem to love it up there. They also have never had any problems going up and down ramps, they are both quite at ease with the outside bunny ark which has the ramp.

He’s gorgeous!
My dexter can be found on top of a fresh carrot cottage (he will do anything for something that tastes nice). The only thing Popcorn climbs is his ramp up to bed, he considers anything else far too much effort!

Handsome Henry! Our Lady Piggle and husboar Theo are great climbers, a bit less now at 20 months old than they were when they were younger, but they are often on a house roof or in their loft or on our shoulders rather than our laps. Blodwen pig by contrast is a complete ground pig, she has incredibly short legs even for a guinea pig and stays firmly on the floor at all times, she wont even attempt the shallow 5inch high ramp to the top floor of the castle house!

Mine aren’t climbers but they are jumpers. They will happily disregard a ramp and jump up onto something instead. I think the record is clearing about 1.5 feet!

My Minx was my biggest climber and jumper - from veg racks, fridges, discovering the stairs just 10 days before giving birth to two unplanned pet shop babies (PS: Have you ever had to explain to a gasman with a straight face why you have to piggy proof your stair case?); basically anything she got her nose over, she would jump onto. Her favourite sleeping place was the top of her wooden hut, and she would even sit on it in the vet's waiting room, staring down about five cats cowering in their carriers...

Some piggies love to live the 'high life'!

Others you have to lift out of the cage for a week before they have worked up the courage to set foot on the new differently coloured fleece in front of their cage while the whole group is gamboling around them and even jumping over them to get back into the cage...

Here is my Tegan jumping over (and toppling) a group mate

The boys were never really climbers or jumpers. But the girls, when they first came home and were in their temporary house, would climb on top of the wooden bridge. But luckily they never really escaped...well, not by climbing onto things anyway 🤦🏾‍♀️

Comet was a climber if there was food about, specifically hay and blueberries because they were the best thing ever. I had a two seater sofa my dad was sitting on one side of, so I put Comet on the other side seat and sat down on the floor because he always liked to have a little potter about and there was no hay around, so he clearly wasn't going to do anything drastic. Right?
Unfortunately the near empty blueberry punnet on the arm of the sofa told him otherwise. I happened to look just as his climb started and he was not best impressed at being caught mid-leap. Like mate we had this discussion, climbing on and jumping off the sofa, neither are good ideas. At all. Cue my dad going "huh, I didn't know they could do that." Oh, if you only knew...lol.

I don't think he ever worked out that carrot cottages have a carrot roof, though. That was Blitzen's domain.

Linney was our best climber, she could go up and down stairs (though thankfully she never went all the way up or we would have had a harder time containing her- she would just jump up and down the bottom few stairs.)

My piggies love running up and down the ramp of their hutch and going on top of their 2 wooden houses. Although they never tried to climb the C&C though.

We have the same fleece! Mine will climb ontop of their carrot cottage but that’s about it, I have two lazy boys
