I'm off on holiday at the end of June and I'm trying to find a decent boarding place for the piggies. So far it's not going very well.... my first choice, the woman doesn't seem to be responding to emails or calls. Second choice don't have big enough inside cages and don't feel they can cope with having to do a full clean out every 3-4 days.

Hopefully I'll find somewhere soon!

Anyone else had this problem?

Sorry to hear you are having such bad luck with finding boarding for your piggies. How rubbish?

I have to say I did look into boarding for my piggies but came across the same problems you have. I couldn't find anyone that I really thought I could trust to care for my piggies. Everyone does things so differently.

I rely on my mother a lot to look after my piggies, but if I ever need to be away the same time as my mother I have no idea what I will do! ?/

That's the very reason I started up my own boarding service www.vipiggies.co.uk......I looked and looked, and realised that I could do it a whole lot better ;) x

Have you tried http://www.findpetboarding.com/smallpetboarding/uk/scotland/grampian/aberdeenshire/

I'm not sure how far all of these are away from you, but there are a few in the Aberdeenshire area.

Tracey x

Maybe you could get a pet sitter instead? That way they could stay at home and somebody could come in to clean their cage, feed and cuddle them.

Struggling with this as well because there's very few places that do this and those that do, don't provide vegetables and as we'll be away for 2 weeks, that's a problem.

Who would have thought that the most complicated part about going on holiday is sorting out the piggies?!

I usually just have my mum/brother feed mine when I'm away! She usually hangs around and gives them some attention. It's not ideal but at least I know they are safe and being fed.

I have been asked to cat sit for my moms friend... because I'm responsible and reliable. :)) (i am, its just that i found it rather condisending to be told so.)

So perhaps offer someone you know and trust some money to do this? Instead of using a profesional, that way you can set your own terms and rules around what needs to be done.

I'm going on holiday with the only person I'd fully trust to look after the piggies!

My first choice of boarding place has got back to me... she was away on holiday. So hopefully, it should be all sorted out.

Yeah, I've been using that website and not all of them actually board guinea pigs. They're mainly just catteries and kennels/ :(

Hopefully going to visit one this weekend but I'm not getting my hopes up that it'll be any use.

Good luck with the visit....it's nerve-wracking, isn't it? x
