I used to have 2 piggies who would cuddle up for hours on my lap, and 1 who always seemed so scared of me when she was out of the cage. In the cage, she was, and still is the one who comes running up to the bars first to see me.

I now have 3 piggies who are scared to sit with me, but all 3 still come running to see me, as long as they are in their cage. None of them seem to want to spend any time with me anymore.

Ok I was away for a week. But they were being cared for by my mum. As soon as I come home, I had them out, and the 2 who liked me still did. For about 3 days anyway. Now after being back home for just under 2 weeks, they are all scared to sit with me.

The only reason I can think of is the fact that I have started new medication and I constantly have the shakes with it.

Where I haven't been spending enough time with them, I failed to notice just how long one of the piggies nails are. Ok they aren't curled in or anything, but they look way too long to me, and I feel so guilty for not noticing.

Looks like I will have to pay a visit to the "wonderful" P@H this week to get them trimmed as thats the cheapest I have found it for at a very expensive £8 each!

All the people I would trust to do it have never even handled piggies, let alone cutting their nails!

I just hope I can gain the piggies trust again soon!

Shame I'm not closer, I would have helped - perhaps there is a member nearby that could maybe clip there nails for you or a rescue?

As for the piggies being scared when they come out maybe bring them out in a cosy and give them a treat so they associate laptime with yummy treats!

How old are the piggies they really do take time to come round and I find the younger piggies more adventurous. I know you say they dislike you but what give's you this impression?

I am not sure excatly how old they are, but I believe they are still young as they are growing very fast.

Its not the fact that they dislike me as they do come running to see me everytime I walk in the room. They seem scared of me when they are out of the cage, which is a new thing, for 2 of the piggles anyway.

I am feeding them treats by sitting in the run with them and they are fine. I've tried to give them treats on my lap when they are snuggled up in a blanket, but they just run off. They never used to. The first few days they were home with me, the 2 spent hours climbing over my legs and have ever since. Even the 8 days without seeing them, they still felt confident with me. It was a few days after when everything seemed to change.

maybe its not even fear maybe they're just bored and what to get up and explore theyre like grumpy teenagers they have gone from cuddly to mum/dad gerroff!
