So we got our first few guinea pigs a few years ago who were called Ginger and Cinnamon. They were brothers and although Cinnamon didn't always get along with our hairbrush, the two piggies got along swell. However one day, Cinnamon had a sist which burst and ended up sadly killing him. My younger sister, who looked after Ginger, was devastated and a few days later I got a new guinea pig called Oreo. We followed all the advice to help them get along (we deep cleaned there cage and so on) and they got along really well. Ginger is an adorable softie and looked after him, and they went everywhere together. (Or Oreo just followed him everywhere we don't know😂) but recently Oreo has been trying to show dominance which what we have read is just hormones and other things however I am concerned they are going to be seperated as that means one of them (more than likely Oreo which is my guinea pig) will have to be sold. This would be the last straw but would be really sad. Basically my guinea pig has been chattering his teeth at Ginger, climbing on his back, chasing him around and trying to block him from the food. The worst part is Ginger used to just ignore him but now has been chasing him back and chattering at him. I don't know what to do, so can someone help me please?
Extra info:
*We have a massive 2 story rabbit hutch and a huge outside run for during the day so it isn't space
*Ginger is 3 or 4 and Oreo is nearly 1 in a few months
*There is no blood or wound marks found yet
*There is enough hiding spaces
*There is two of everything
* My mother has heard that if we give Oreo food first, and give him a hug/ cuddle first and it was working until a few days ago
*Oreo is a mix of teddy? (The old owner knew he was a teddy but he doesn't look like it although she said he was a rare teddy but I thought it was just about the colour) and Ginger is an Abyssinian (I think that is how its spelt sorry)
*They get veggies 2 or 3 times a day and cleaned every day
I think this is all I can tell you all. May you please help me? Thank you.

Hi!

Please read this advice here. It is likely that Oreo is now a teenager and experiencing but the advice works for any boar bond of any age: Boars: Teenage, Bullying, Fighting, Fall-outs And What Next?

If necessary, put in a divider for a couple of days to allow the hormone spike to die down and the re-introduce on the lawn.

Put the bowls apart if possible. He then can’t guard both bowls. Also you could try hand feeding them, starting with the dominant one first.

If the worst came to the worst, could you just separate the hutch in two so they live alongside each other? What are the measurements of one floor in their hutch?

I can’t add to the advice given but just wanted to say I hope it works out. Please don’t let Oreo be sold if it doesn’t work out, who knows where he’ll end up and it would leave Ginger alone :(
