Thanks, will do. Luckily she can't get enough of the syringe feeding she holds onto it with her paws when I try to take it away.

We have also found that recovering piggies who need to regain some weight usually like a bit of grated sweet potato, with porridge oats- lots of good calories in that
actually masses of calories so its only for the recovering and frail or as a very occasional treat!

That's sounds good. I am sure my son will let me use his porridge oats lol Do you have to do anything to it or just give it dry? Dry porridge oats are fine our vet recommended grated sweet potato when we had an underweight piggy with dental problems and its very effective for bulking up underweight piggies and/or piggies who have lost a lot of weight through illness!

Great, I will give some to her this afternoon. I have been feeding her her veggies when I've had her out doing her meds and syringe feeding as I wanted to make sure she was eating her fair share.Dry porridge oats are fine

My mother is coping well now she goes on Tuesday to have her dressing changed and see if the stitches are ready to come out.

Update: Avaleigh is steadily putting on weight she was 661g the week before she was ill and she went down to 555g on her lowest day. I am still weighing her everyday to check, yesterday she was up to 649g so she is slowly getting there she still has a few days left on the Baytril but there's no sign of a runny nose or anything so fingers crossed I think she's over it.
Ariel is up to 715g but even at the start she never lost any weight. Her nose is still runny. The vet told me to clean it everyday with some warm water on an ear bud so would give an indication of if its clearing but it's still crusty in the mornings. She's on day 21 on Baytril and still has a few days left, we go back to the vet on Monday. This will be her fourth check up and on each one apart from the runny nose her chest and lungs have been clear. Do URI's take this long to clear or could it be something else causing the runny nose?
