Gosh - it's been a while since I was on GPF...
Brownie is still with us - although we had a scare this past few days..... 2 golf ball sized lumps suddenly appeared overnight - we got to the vets (Ellie @ Derwent Valley) yesterday who diagnosed Ovarian cysts filled with fluid.. She drained them there and then - 10ml & 25ml removed...
Brownie must feel soooooo much better now - she is definitely happier today! I was dreading the outcome but thank goodness it was a good one!

Hi and welcome back!

Very sorry for your scare but glad that Ellie could drain them. They will refill over time but it will hopefully take some months.

Glad that Brownie is feeling better, these things always seem to happen just before the holidays.
 
Welcome back, you have been missed. Sorry to hear about Brownie but it's good she could be sorted out so quickly.
 
Well - it's been just over 2 weeks and the ovarian cysts have already filled up - came up overnight again - not as big ...

So we think an operation to remove her ovaries is the next step... Whilst they don't make her poorly she was like a different piggy when they had been drained... But we can't keep getting them drained if they are going to fill up that quickly.... no the best start to the day :(

Oh that’s so disappointing. Poor girl.
 
Wednesday update - so Brownie had her surgery yesterday to remove her ovaries... it went well with no complications. We collected her last night and she was a bit sleepy but ate some food before I popped her to bed. She isn't moving a lot but has had her breakfast, meds (pain killer) and some critical care which she ate off a spoon!

I will be topping her up throughout the day and encouraging her to move a tiny bit - not too much as I suspect she is sore and tired.

Her wounds are barely visible.... her buzz cut however :eek: she isn't impressed with that! Will post a photo later..

Glad to hear that Brownie is doing well after her op. I'm sure that with your loving care she will make a full recovery. x
 
This all sounds very positive news with Brownie, brave little lady doing so well x
 
Day 2 Post Op - Brownie is doing really well... She had put weight on since her weigh in this morning so she has been eating hay during the day... She is a lot brighter too - not shouting at me yet tho like she does every morning! Loving the spoon feeding of the critical care - she is such a princess :hug:
 
Gosh - it's been a while since I have posted on GPF... I hope everyone is well... Sadly, Brownie passed away this morning after a very quick illness.
Artcaspers herd is no more 😢 Brownie was always going to be my last guinea pig and I so sad that the day has started like this but also glad she wouldn't have suffered for long...
I have so much stuff piggy related, where do I start!
 
So sorry that Brownie is gone, you will miss her so much. 🌈

It's a shock to suddenly become a pig-free household and need to deal with all their things. I am gradually working on it since losing Trudy last month. Sending lots of sympathy as you adjust.
 
I’m so sorry you’ve lost Brownie but I’m pleased she didn’t suffer. I’m sure a local rescue would appreciate any donations you have when you feel ready. Take care. ❤️
