So I will be sending Arthur away to a rescue on Saturday to get neutered and matched with some lovely female piggies. He will then find a new home.

My heart is breaking over having to give him away. I look at him and feel extremely guilty and I cry whenever I hold him. I took some last photos this morning of him as a last memory of him being with me.

I've owned him for just over a year since he was 4 weeks old.

I love you Arthur, never forget me. x)x) x

I will miss you so much my baby boy. I'm sorry I couldn't keep you. I feel I have failed you. :(

Don't feel like that hun, he will be happy with his new wife piggies and he won't forget you because you have been such a good piggy mum to him

Thank you. I just feel so bad. I keep looking at his little face and feeling so bad. I wish I had space for 6 guinea pigs but its impossible.

I did my best for him.

And you can only do your best.xx

I know. At least you know that the rescue will find him a good home so you don't have to worry about that.xx

Yeah thats what I keep telling myself. I'd never let him go anywhere else but a rescue.

It is hard to let a pet of yours go so he can find the happiness you cannot give him - and not for lack of trying.

Arthur knows how much you love him. Rest assured that he will never forget you!

I adopted a three year old sow (dating a same aged beaved girl of mine), who had been given up because she was not happy on her own. Her loving owner could not face getting a new piggy after the long illness of Dizzy's first companion. When Dizzy was dying two years later, her owner knew; the letter I sent her was only a confirmation. Their bond had never faded.

I hope that this story will lift your spirit somewhat.

Thank you Wiebke. It's defintely the hardest decision I've ever had to make in my life.

That story is very bittersweet and it does make me feel somewhat better, thank you.

Lovely pictures. He is adorable.

Please don't feel guilty about what you are doing. It was a really tough decision to make. Arthur will be soooo happy when he gets himself a wife or two :).

Suzanne will take really good care of him at the rescue. I have just adopted a little boar called Simon from her today. He has been on his own for a while, and now he is snuggled up with his new wife-pig.

Take care, and good luck for Saturday.

Helen xxxxxx

Thank you Helen. I know he will be happy and thats why I'm doing this for him. I hope he will have a lovely life with his new wife/wives.

Thats lovely to hear Simon has gotten himself a loving family and Suzanne is a very helpful lady and I know he will be in good hands. I'll never forget Arthur though. He's the cheekist little guinea pig I've ever had and he really brought Romano out of his shell when they were babies.

I hope Romano's new friend can do the same thing once I find him one.

I'm sure Arthur will be very happy when he gets his wifey. Good luck on Romano getting a friend. I do sympathise. Over the years of owning many animals I've had to make some heart-breaking decisions even though they were best for the animal concerned.

Thank you Lilly. It truly is hard but I'll always do whats best for my animals.

I'm happy that at least both of them will end up with friends instead of being lonely if I had been selfish and kept them.

its not an easy decision but I bet when he gets to be with all the girls he will be very happy x) bug hugs x

Thank you Winnie. Your piggies are gorgeous by the way. I'm always in love when I see their photo. x)

I'm hopeful I can get occasional updates on Arthur while hes there to just know hes okay. I'm going to ask Suzanne when I get there on Saturday.
