What would you suggest someone to get... A baby guinea pig or an adult guinea pig? (As pairs ofcourse :)) )

At the moment on Bobtails, there are so many baby pigs and I am just drooling all over the laptop drool

Very near the bottom are some cutie piiiies!

Someone suggested to me that adult pigs would be better to have as first time owners as they are easier to hold. Personally, I think I would want a baby pig just because I would want to have it from it's baby stage to adulthood and old age. (Hopefully!)

They don't stay babies for very long, honestly, it just feels like a few weeks and then poof! you've got full grown ones.. :(|)
I'd advise adults because babies do take a while to settle down and relax. Rocket's about 7 months and full adult size now but he's still the most nervous of the 4 and although he's getting a lot better he's still nowhere near as relaxed as the "grown ups". :)

Baby piggies are cute and fun, but usually not easy to hold and to cuddle - that will take time and persistence. Adult piggies can be more rewarding because they are a lot less wiggly, personalities that are comfy in themselves and that usually know a good thing when they see one. What you are going for in the end is your choice!

Ahh that gives me heart that eventually my boys will grow up to love a good Mummy cuddle!
xx

I got babies for my first pigs. I felt for me as a first time owner I wanted to be able to get them used to being handled etc. from the very start.
I'm glad I made that choice but it did take time to get them to come anywhere near me! :)

I thought that baby pigs will become much tamer adults as they have been handled right from the start? Is this true?

I might get an adult and a baby. Would that work? Or would the young one annoy the hell out of the adult pig :))
I know it does for my budgie. One's young and the other is an adult and the little one just flaps the older one wanting to play 24/7 lol

Why not get a youngish old one. Aka, one thats a few months old. He's not old then and hes not a squirmy little baby. =)

EDIT: On that page Barometer Earthstar & Morel seem to be a older/young pairing.
