Okay so I bought the boys new water bottles from asda a few days ago... I know I probably shouldn't have but it was a good price (£1.50 each) now I have 2 in the Trio's cage and 1 in Toffee's cage.. It has been several days and everyday I change the water bottle, now I noticed that there was still a full bottle of water when I changed their water in the mornings... what I didn't think about was the fact that the cheap CRAP bottle from asda... the ball had gotten stuck at the top of the metal piece and they wer'nt getting any water from it, but as soon as I checked there was water flowing so obiously I thought nothing of it, I took the boys out to clean their cage and gave them a piece of cucumber and instead of eating it they licked it... so they must have been sooo dehydrated! so moral of the story, if you see a bargain water bottle from anywhere like asda DO NOT BUY IT!

we have 2-3 water bottles in each cage.Just in case.I tried many kind of them. Most of them not good.Start leaking.Recently found small bottles in local pet shop 170ml or so 1.55 each not leaking. But they so small.Hard to wash properly.

I have two water bottles in my cage. One came from the pet store. I believe the brand is Living World. I haven't had any problems with it. It doesn't leak, it's a good size and my boys seem to be getting plenty of water from it.

The other one is from Wal Mart. The brand is Hartz. I just bought and installed it about an hour ago so no word yet on how that one is, but it's also a good size.

I check both my water bottles several times a day to make sure the ball is rolling smoothly and dispensing water.

silly piggies:)

i use the hartz ones from walmart and my pigs have no problems, except guinea who likes to purposely let the ball open up and spill all over her chin then prance in it:) shes so silly, but recovering from a possible stroke right now:(:...

Oh good! I'm glad to know I didn't buy a crummy brand. I took a chance on it so I wasn't sure if it'd prove to be useful or not. I would have known right away though if it wasn't working properly since I'm a little obsessive about checking the water bottles. :))

I have to jump in here and point out that the water bottle isn't actually made by ASDA, so may be worth contacting the company that make them rather than tarnish the problem to be a fault of ASDA. Just saying... ;)

The problem outlined is quite common in water bottles that use ball bearings tbh, I've had it happen with some of the most widely made bottles and even some of the more expensive ones. I've always found that the places they were bought from are happy to replace them.
