Yesterday morning, I picked Nutmeg up, and she couldn't grip onto my shoulder and couldn't stand properly. The family are debating things, like her medicine making her dizzy, etc etc.
I took her to the vets...again, and they said her lymph nodes had swollen up so much she really couldn't breathe and she was suffering, and that she had had a stroke in the night. We had a choice of medicine to see if she could last a few weeks longer, but she was never going to recover.
I made the choice to put her to sleep, and to end her suffering. I held her in the car for one last cuddle and she gave me loads of kisses (Or licking up my tears)
Rest in peace baby Nutmeg (Technically 3 isn't a baby, but my other 5 were still babies even though 3 were 8)

I'm so sorry for your loss. :(
Rest in peace, Nutmeg. Your piggy is in a better place now.
She's wheeking her way over the rainbow bridge. 🌈

I am so sorry to hear your sad news. They leave such a big hole in our hearts when they leave us.
RIP Nutmeg.

I’m so sorry for your loss. You made the hardest, but kindest decision. Take care. Popcorn free Nutmeg.

So sorry you had to say goodbye to Nutmeg. Be gentle to yourself as you grieve. She had a wonderful life with you and treasured every moment ❤️

I'm so sorry you've lost Nutmeg to illness, it's so moving she was kissing you till the end. Fly high Nutmeg 🌈

So sorry you had to say goodbye to Nutmeg, but it’s sometimes our last kindness x
Sleep tight little Nutmeg 🌈

So sorry that you had to let Nutmeg go.
You gave her a last gift of love.
Be gentle with yourself as you grieve.

Thank you for all the kind messages.

This might sound weird, but I can't stop debating what I could've done to save her. What if I took her to the vets on the day of the first wheeze, instead if 2 days later, maybe I could've saved her. What if I got up earlier in the day on her last day, maybe things would've been different.
I feel like such a bad piggy mum.

I think whenever a beloved pets dies we always think “what could I have done differently” or “if only I’d …” it’s all part of grieving. Sadly sometimes there’s really nothing more that can be done and the kindest thing we can do is stop the suffering, it’s our last act of love for our pets x

Please, please don’t beat yourself up, you are a kind and caring owner x

So at some point I'll stop beating myself up?
I've never had one have pneumonia before. I just wonder how she got it, and whether I failed her.

You didn’t fail her, pneumonia is a very serious illness which has a high fatality rate. Sometimes no amount of meds can make a difference. When you said your goodbyes, your little piggie will have known just how much you loved her x

Yeah. I guess. I'm just finding it hard

Also, at the end when she kissed you, she knew you loved her. Please don't be hard on yourself. You did your best.
