Yesterday, after 6 pigless months, I went to collect a new boy to come and live with me.

:) :D :) :D :) :D

His name was originally "Bill" but I changed it (for obvious reasons) to "Merlin"

Merlin was adopted from the Wheek and Squeek guinea pig rescue in Southampton where he had been cared for by Anna (Cavylover)

He is big and black and a complete heartbreaker :-*

I look forwards to boring you all to death with endless photos and stories over the coming days / wheeks / months ;D

Oh that is fabulous news. I'm so pleased for you. He sounds adorable and I love the name. can't wait to see the pigtures :)

Congratulations! Off to check the pics now..

wonderful news I too have a merlin shes mostly black, hope all goes well now you are officially a piggy mum again

Lovely news for you, and having seen his pic just now he's a big lad! :)

awww congratulations! sooo pleased for you getting a piggie! I have just looked at the pigture and he's a stunner! Absolutely gorgeous! :)

/hugs

Thanks all

I popped Merlin on the scales last night and he weighed in at a whopping 1.25K

The biggest Billie ever got was about 950g so Merlin seems huge :o

He doesnt seem fat. He seems long and stocky so I hope that this weight is ok?

Riffy is a similar weight. He is very long but quite thin.

When he was little, Roger said Riffy was too thin. He wasn't very confident about eating. Riffy listened carefully to Roger and started to eat properly.

Can Roger have a word with Merlin?

Very little interest in anything except apple and celery so far :(

Aww, he's probably just nervous at a new home, new family etc. Try something like parsley, maybe hand fed. :)

I will

Thanks :)

I'm sure he'll be troughing away soon - all 4 trotters in the bowl ;D

Vet weighed my Eric the other day and he was 1.2kg. He is a bit of a porker, but the vet said he's not obese, but the more normal weight tends to be around 1kg he said. But hey, that belly is all bought and paid for as they say!

Roger says that bigger guineas are nearly always more healthy than thin ones.

Tell me about it

I have 6.5 months to get from a 16 to a 12 (she says stuffing a twix in her gob ;D)

I have 8 months to get from a 16 to a 12 for my wedding... I'm making my dress that suze, so I better get to it :p

Chasing the guineas around the flat should help witrh that, they're very spry ;)

Congratualtions!
Same as me

I get married on July 7th - what about you?

I wasn't going to get married until I'd at least got down to a size 18. Then I thought b*gger that I'll never get married if I do that. So I had a dress made instead ;D
