I've been weighing the boys on a weekly basis and have noticed that since July they have both started to drop weight -

Since end of July, Jamie has gone from 1040g to 980g today - a loss of 60g and Gino has gone from 1220g to 1120g today a loss of 100g. So in 8 weeks they have dropped an average of Jamie 7.5g & Gino 12.5g

I know the smaller losses can be the difference between a full and empty bladder

I have made some changes to their diet on Simons advice since Gino had his UTI's. They get a lot less nuggets/dry food, and I have also cut down a bit on their veggies as I think I was giving them too much.

I will weight them on a daily basis for the next few weeks, and obviously take them both to the vet for a check if it continues but just wondered what other peoples thoughts were on this amount of loss.....am I being paranoid?:...

60 gram's and we're in the vet - that's my logic if I've not made any changes to diet.

100 gram's is concerning though I'd weigh daily anymore weight loss an MOT is in order.

Thanks Jo. They were both checked over at Simons before my holiday (3 weeks ago) and given a clean bill of health but I hear what youre saying.

If it was just one of them losing weight then I would be more concerned, but as its both of them could that be related to the changes Ive made in the diet? Gino was heavier to start with....?/

That's what I was thinking and you have made changes limiting pellet's would cause weight loss.

My Milo can jump easily 60 grams in weight but he has had to have a few dentals so could be something to do with it. x

I would think that the slow weight loss is due to your diet chances, especially cutting down on the pellets. In that case, I would not worry about a slow gradual loss if they are completely healthy and fit otherwise; they just have lost some excess fat. I have had similar weight losses after cutting down on the amount of pellets. Their weights are still very good.

Generally, I would worry and have them seen by a vet if they lost this amount over the course of just a few days or a week without any diet changes. Please weigh weekly or at least every two weeks.
