I'm making an aubergine and okra curry tonight (bhindi baingan jalfrezi!) and I wondered if a bit of aubergine and okra are safe foods for piggies?
Unless anyone has any direct experience I will of course, if in doubt, leave it out!
I see okra listed at the end of the edible and poisonous foods list but not clearly in either category... and a forum search doesnt seem to say much about okra since 10 years ago!

I've fed aubergine to mine previously on occasion. I think I did ask before I did it and they liked it too. Hubby isn't fond of courgette and aubergine whereas I quite like it so I shared mine with the piggies

Mine have also had a small slice of aubergine, but weren't keen to be honest.
That's ok - I like it too so it didn't go to waste.
Not tried okra though.
Your curry sounds delicious - I'll be over in about 7 hours so save me a plate :dri:

Not cooked it yet! No I'm not Indian but we loooove Indian food and my husband used to work for an Indian Muslim family who had moved to the UK years ago (after India and Pakistan split they were Muslim on the wrong side of the border and came to the UK instead) , my husband was looking after the old dad after he got sick, and they taught him some Indian cookery and lots of Urdu words for vegetables :)

Mine love aubergine, they can't have the green bit at the top though, I think it's similar to tomatoes, part of the nightshade family? But the actual fleshy bit is fine :)

Aubergine is Meg's FAVOURITE veg. If she doesn't get aubergine almost every night I get told off  :)) . Don't give them the green bit at the top. I cut off a small round, cut it into 12 pieces so they (in theory) have 3 pieces each.

Haha I do similar. All veg gets cut up so that it's divisible by 4 but let's face it, we all know that's not how they share :))

Everything I've read says that okra is fine in moderation. It's a bit too high in calcium and sugar to be fed every day, but one or twice a week is fine.

I was joking lol about asking u being an Indian😂😂 I felt so happy hearing it that someone on this forum does likes Indian and spicy food😂

Well the curry was a success but aubergine and okra were a big piggy fail! Just gave them once tiny piece each through the bars and Piggle was utterly disgusted, Puggle was scared, Clover was very angry, Jezzy and Theo looked betrayed, Blod, Ollie and Tallulah ate theirs because they are greedy then started pawing at their faces like they wanted to un-eat it... we are very bad ashamed piggy parents, these foods are worse than turnips apparently!

Tut Tut bad Piggy Mummy and Piggy Daddy. Your piggies will be reporting you to the GPU if you don't look out. Hope you gave them a bribe of coriander after so you don't get reported!

We are very bad piggy parents indeed and no doubt a serious complaint to the GPU is already being written (on my wall, in pee spray, by Piggle) as the Haybox hay has also run out so we have very disappointed piggies and a very allergic me with Science Selective timothy which is so dusty it gives me a rash and streaming eyes and sneezing! They have Pillow Wad meadow hay too and I even opened a bag of Readigrass and a box of porridge oats and gave them a whole red pepper but our foods are not up to posh piggy standard and are not trusted at all tonight :(
