Average weights?

It depends how many in the litter and what size they were when born. I'd say at 3 weeks they are usually 250 - 300g? If they were average size.

Before I read thread I was going to say about 200g to 250g. So not far off Sophie's post.

Just weighed 2 x 3 weeks old girls here and they're 289g and 294g.

Baby Saskia was 158g at birth but she was an exeptionally large baby :)

All of my 3-4 weeks old babies eat loads and are gainging weight very well. They weigh aroun 170-200g. I read some where that if it was a large litter then they are usual smaller anyway. In which case this would follow as they were from a 5 and 7 litter. Ena will be 4 week old on Thursday and was 66gs at birth has gained weight very well since birth. Ena brothers were both a lot bigger, she was the runt x

They are all doing really well and gaining weight and eating well. So is there any reason to worry?

I think as long as they're eating and healthy, and gaining weigh gradually then no you don't have to worry. If they were showing signs of listlessness and no interest in food, and extremely easy to catch then I would worry. I think you'd know deep down if there was something to be concerned about.

I noticed as soon as I got Teddy from you he had a lovely round tummy, hmm he still has, maybe he was just the biggest eater, and now there's less competition for food, the others will catch up.

I didn't know what to expect from having a teeny tiny baby and have maybe been overprotective of him, that pair have all my attention directed at them, but I've come to realise that baby piggies are more hardy than I thought they'd be, he's already a bit of a hooligan, navigates the ramp into the run like a pro when they're outside and begs for food when they're in. It must be something in the Humber air, all my piggies have a tendency to cause havoc and I think they've been a bad influence in him.

No reason to worry as long as they are perky, eating, drinking independently from a water bottle and gaining weight. But at those weights I would hold on to them for a bit longer than usual before rehoming, as the travelling and moving to a new place stress can make them drop weight and they're already small. I keep all my babies here until 6 weeks, occasionally if there is a single baby boar and he's going to be a friend to another boar I let them go a little earlier if a good weight so he doesn't have to sit here on his own.

Thank you for clearing that up. Ena seems perfectly happy and I have seen her at the food bowl a number of times. She is very much a fan of the hay and polished off the pellets last night. I am finding that I am refilling the food bowls more often so she is certainly munching a lot.

Ena now know's when it is veg time as well and by the time she has finished pop corning around the hutch, Eleanor, Eliza and Erin have almost finished their tea :))

I haven't seen Ena drink from the water bottle yet but I have seen her near there and she has had some watery veg. Having said that, I haven't been watching them 27 / 7 so she probably has had a drink whilst I haven't been looking xx

I wouldn't worry about the water bottle thing as I have had lots of adults who don't use it at all or not very often. Just wet the veg and keep an eye on her. They normally learn from the others so will Ena x
