Some of you will have read my thread about a pig of mine being bullied, well things are going from bad to worse.

I brought her indoors and monitored her food and hay consumption which was normal and so was her drinking. There were small cuts on her surrounded by patches of hair loss but they looked like they had been obtained in a scuffle so I wasn't overly worried.

Now the patches seem to be getting bigger although there are no signs of infection or mites just bigger bald patches. She has also developed a runny tum which is probably from the increase in fresh veg she has had. The runny poos are still greeny/brownish so I have isolated her with just nuggets hay and water.

This whole decline in her health is all the more confusing because she is bright and attentive as well as eating and drinking normally. I am going to take her to the vet tomorrow as I am at a loss as to what is causing the hairloss and lack of condition.

Until tomorrow is there anything else I should be doing?

ooooH charlotte

sorry to hear Avrils not well:(big huges and kisses

hope she gets better soon

keep us posted

It is so upsetting I can hear her pooing!

Poor Avril, make sure she is drinking ok, but sorry I don't know any further advice. Hope she feels better soon.

oh bless her :(
is she still drinking , so she is getting fluids into her, last time i had a poorly piggy i used dioralyte so he didn't dehydrate(**** spelt wrong)
nicky xx

Is she still eating Charlotte?

What is the Diarrhea like? Is it just poo?

Poor Avril she looked fine last night, sending healing wheeks her way! xx

Do you have a probiotic there that you could syringe her to help settle her tum.

Other than that I agree to just keep her off the veg until you know what's caused it for sure, make sure she gets enough fluids and that's all.

Shepherds purse (a type of weed) is supposed to help this kind of thing but it's so hard to find.

Good luck honey - you and me both at the vets tomorrow. Here's hoping it's positive news all round.

x

Hoepfully, her tummy settles with some dry food. Be careful when reintroducing fresh food again.

Her scratches could be down to fungal - warmish/humid conditions encourage it. It had an outbreak a few weeks ago; it was neither mites nor ringworm, but reacted well to fungal shampoo and cream for the bald patches on several girls.

She has climbed onto her hay pile and keeps dozing, we have moved her to the dining room so she is able to relax. We pop in every 20mins or so. I am getting quite worried now.

Good luck at the vet Avril :(

I'm sure everything will be sorted soon Romily and you will have a healthy, happy, popcorning Avril!
xx

Just been to check on her and things are really not too good. She still has an upset tum but the poos are looking much darker and her bottom is a mess. I have tried to check for swelling of the stomach and she looks ok but if I try to touch any area apart from her head, no matter how gently, it is causing her great distress.

The food I have put in has been eaten but the hay has not been touched as she is lying on it (there is a bed to lie in but she has chosen the hay). Dark poos are a really bad sign aren't they?

AWW I don't know. Do they look like normal poos?

I HOPE shes okay!

They are very dark with a lot of liquid too. No sign of her drinking either.

Still poos well kind of sludgy not solid and there is quite a strong smell.

she is sitting hunched up in the corner, this is all bad isn't it.

Tague has out of hours but saying that last time I tried the number it didn't work, when Bette had Diarrhea.

Avril seems much better this morning and is back to producing solid poos, I am so relieved, think it must have been too much fresh veg.
