I seem to have two groups are very rumbly ladies this evening think one of each group must be in heat together.

its so loud lol. There was a loud scream so went rushing in but everyone is ok guess someone was being melodramatic. ..

Anyhow I noticed sophie asleep (shes only young maybe 6/7 months) all curled up touching mrs mouse whos a more mature mummy figure of about two snd a half. She seemed to be sat protecting her from all the other grumpy girls ( who incidentally are in different cages but above them) .. it was really sweet to see as their realtionship seems to be blossoming lately.

I caught them yesterday doing laps chasing each other but in a friendly way one would catch upto other and they bump into each other then change direction.

There is certainly some love there! If only best friends love!

Edgar and poe still do this at floor time and seem happy chasing and bumping into each other and then sit side by side they still are right next to each other and do not rumble when in the cages so I think when their hormones settle down I may try to bond them again about xmas time.

It does sound hopeful my two boys who fell out really fell out and they hated each other they would teeth chatter when I cleaned the other ones cage out as it would stir up the smell of the other one . Yours clearly get on when not in a confined space so after hormones settle down, they seem like they will hopefully work out!

Hopefully! I can but only try. Ive kept them close in hoping the bond isnt shattered completely. Have been watching closely and it seems I was wrong about Poe being the dom one....upon inspection it is always Edgar who strats rumbling and mounting at times. Just so happens that Poe is bigger and prob saw him off that day. They have their moments but it soon ends with the, popcorning, playing and running around and then having some veggies in a communal bowl on the floor.Sometimes when Edgar gets a bit pushy Poe just turns his back and wanders off haha.

As they get older they often change character as the hormones die down and as long as bloods not been drawn two males who previously fell out can sometimes go back together. If bloods been drawn then there is no chance I have found once they hate each other that's it and they remember. I have two single males who won't live with anyone and one won't even share floor time but the other will happily share floor time but not a cage. Then on the other scale i have a group of 8 males. Odd little critters at times :)

They drew blood so maybe I wont tempt fate just in case. They seem happy ..very happy as they are now. They still can be right next to each other when in their cages and floortime is good. Yes I wont...i will never forgive myself if I come home and one is dead...They are in a 6x2 with a loft either end and its sectioned down the middle so they get alot of intercation with each other.

If bloods been drawn its rare they will but also depends on how serious the fight was, yours are skinnies so a scrape could result in blood. If they tolerate each other on the floor there is a chance they may do in a cage if its neutral.

You will be the person I will be talking with if I do try again. I will be wetting myself with worry. I will take a week off work if I do so the are not left alone at all :)

8 boars living together? That is amazing!

There was 9 but I sadly lost one of my favourite boys a few weeks ago which has changed the dynamics of the group slightly. Its taken me a long time to work on the group and getting the right characters as with boys its down to personality.

If you have a week off its the perfect time. If they can get through the first 24 hours then the chances of them falling out decreases. The first 24 hours is critical. I find with older males post 18 months then the bonding is quicker and sealed more quickly then younger males as they can fall out easier. Even with the two of everything rule.

My two are brothers and are 7 months. They only have 2 c&c grids seperating them and they could bite etc throught the bars but they do not, they eat side by side too. Floortime i get a little rumbling from Edgar and they both try to mount but this is not everytime and mostly they just chase each other then popcorn and scent
but no chattering or anything and they will eat out of the same bowl at floortime too. When they did fall out they were covered in bites and scratches and I know it looks worse on a skinny but Edgar was quite badly bitten numerous places.

I am sorry to hear of your loss.

Thank you, miss the little stinker still now. He was head of the group, you wouldn't have thought it as Tyrion thought he was in charge but Ned ruled and when he died it changed the dynamic totally. Lovely to see them all together and often go sit in their pen and lose an hour :)

The fact they get on side by side is good, its how I keep my single two they tolerate each other side by side but like their own spaces. They can see other piggies either side too and never no aggression between any of them. They get used to one another :)
