I've been going into iggy and just talking to him and brushing him in his cage. Last night I took him out and wrapped him up in a towel. I brushed him for ages, at first he just sat very still looking alarmed but after about half an hour of being fussed behind his little velvety ears he started to chirp and then squeak. It was definitely a happy little noise.

I'm so glad I got him. I love him already. The only thing that worries me slightly is he is drinking lots and lots. I suppose it is still warm although he is inside in a cool room.

Hello,

my pigs drink quite a bit at the moment, too. But it is hot here.

If he drinks a lot it could be a sign of diabetes, but the amount a pig drinks depends on weather, food etc.

How much does he drink? Maybe it is not as much as you think, I mean, not too much.

Drinking is usually a good sign of settling. He may just not have dared to drink over the last few days or have had access to enough drink before he came to you, so I wouldn't worry! I have often seen this in new piggies after their initial settling in period.

Drinking can vary wildly amongst guinea pigs, from those whose virutally never drink to true "bottle babies"! Better to have one of the latter!
