As most of you know I got Mr Darcy for Lacey 7 weeks ago and about a month ago I thought I saw a flutter in Lacey's tunny, although he had been done, the RSPCA homed him before he was ready to be with a sow.

Over the last couple of days Ive noticed Lacey looking quite plump! I know she loves her food and because I couldnt feel anything I thought it maybe her enjoying her food.

This morning however she looked HUGE, I mean like she had expanded over night, she is still very chirpy, running, being cheeky, eating, drinking, zooming up her ramp like theres no tomorrow so now I'm wondering if she IS expecting! I'm going to try and feel for anything again later once I get her out for cuddles (in her tube or cosy so I dont handle her) but she is VERY active still so if she is, its certainly not slowing her down....

Watch this space

I had an accidental litter of one last year and as you say, she just sort of looked plump, but i did my homework just incase and sure enough she was pregnant! if she is, then you will be able to feel them moving when you feel her stomach, especially if they are due soon, also i'm guessing it's her first litter so she will not have many, just like 2 of them, like i said, mine only had 1

There is no need to stress her out by going to the vets to confirm pregnancy - she either is or she isn't, just waiiting will be stressful for you but not your pig. You will be able to tell quite easily if you have her out for some laptime with her belly resting on your palm. Flutters can be felt froom about 6 weeks into the pregnancy, stronger kicks and rolls from 8 weeks (two weeks left to go).

Please post if you need any advice or have any questions. This link covers the weeks leading up to and after the birth. It has been compiled to help those finding themselves with a surprise pregnancy.

Or if you're unlucky you get 7! @) My mum's piggy had an accidental litter of 7 babies. Fertile sod :))

I hope all is well with Lacey :)

Ut oh...... Hopefully she's just a greedy bum, if not you will have to convert your loft! :))

WOW that is a lot of babies!

What is more amazing is that 6 survived and became really chunky piggies. It's hard to lose one but she was just so tiny she didn't stand a chance really.
Watching baby pigs grow is amazing though and I still see two of them. Beauuutiful little wheekers.

Aww thank you, I read a lot of your threads on here so no doubt if she is then I will be in touch, I'm not too stressed about it at the moment.

She just looked huge this morning x

Fingers crossed Lacey isn't pregnant :) Would you be able to keep the pups if so ? I'd find it incredibly hard to part with any babies my girls produced :(
As Suzy says, no need to take her to the vet really as she sounds very healthy and would not recommend X-rays to anyone unless as a last resort or unavoidable means for a diagnosis. X-rays could potentially harm unborns too and surely a vet would not use this proceedure to confirm a pregnancy I'd have thought :...

I would be able to keep them yes so that doesnt concern me, would have to rethink depending on what she had, if it was sows then not a problem because Darcy has been done but if I had boars then would have to consider my options.

I'm hoping she is just 'fat' and proud lol but because of the shape of her, its more likely that she is expecting!

What would the RSPCA be expected to do about this? They should have followed the correct proceedures!

To be fair I didnt know much about GP's until I got Lacey and joined here so had I done my own research I would have known to seperate them until he was ok to be with her.

In a way it would be nice to have some little ones and in another just hope she loves her food and its showing.

The RSPCA surely should have advised you that it would not be safe to put Darcy with her? They are the ones at fault not you, when we had our boy done we were told not to put him back with his wife pig until 4 weeks which we did and luckily we had no more accidents. I really hope she just looks fat, maybe a birdeye view shot of her will help....

Oh I totally agree that I'm not at fault but also reading past posts on here about doing research before getting GP's I feel somewhat responsable but nevertheless I'm not stressing about it.

I will take some photos tonight, she looks VERY rounded like a big pair bless her but she runs about like mad still so if she is, its not slowing her down

Bless her. The RSPCA will most probably just offer to rehome the little ones (if there are any) I just feel they should have asked you your intentions for darcy and then advised from there. Anyway enough said. x

If I had no choice but to re-home the babies (of there are any) then I would certainly use this Forum and probably not the RSPCA but that said I would hope that I will be keeping the little darlings, afterall they would be such adorable babies considering their parents! lol In all seriousness I am in a position to keep them if they are coming so will panic in a few weeks when it may or may not happen xx

I was just thinking more along the lines of compensation, in food and cages LOL!

Agree they should have advised you on the post op care and timescales etc. etc.
You sound happy about Lacey potentially having pups :)) and thank god it's not an issue for you. Shudder to think if Darcy had been rehomed to someone not as sensible, caring and willing as you :(
Could happen to anyone and they will potentially be beautiful babies...:(|) ;)

I think it would be easier if she wasnt pregnant but I would also welcome the new additions too, thank you for your kind words. They will be loved and well cared for and spoilt too like Lacey and Darcy :))

I got Ed after he'd been neutered a bit early from the RSPCA, but they advised me they only let him go early because I was am experienced owner and had space to keep him alone until he was 6 weeks post-op. I guess whoever you spoke to got themselves muddled by not warning you about keeping Darcy seperate! Do you know how many weeks post-op he was when you got him?

Hopefully Lacey isn't pregnant but atleast if she is you are prepared! I got a rex piggy early on in the year and I was convinced she was pregnant, she was SO rounded, but no just fat!

I'm not 100% certain of the dates so it is a guess, I got him on 11 Aug and I belive he was done at the beginning or could have been slightly earlier so at the most about 3 weeks after his op he was home with Lacey

ok here are photos of the possibly expecting Lacey...

I think she just likes her food....... have her on your lap with your hands gently wrapped around her middle for a while and see what you feel, she doesn't look pregnant to me.

I love the little mohork thing she has going on... very cute! xx

lol i love her mohawk, very cute, I'm getting her out in a bit but she has ballooned as she was always so tiny

If she is anything like mine, you do notice them suddenly get bigger, all of mine seemed to grow over night.

Ive had a hold, although I cant feel any movement but she feels like hard, I didnt prod obviously but she definatly is pear shaped, will try and get more pictures
