Hi
As some as you know one of my sows had 4 babies (3 girls 1boy). They are now just over 2 weeks old and thriving. I have been letiing the baby boy spend supervised time with his dad and his dads friend so that he can eventually move into their hutch which is going really well and they are getting on. Anyway i took them all to the vet for a check up today and she was pleased with their progress, but she told me that the baby boy didnt need to be seperated from mum and sisters until he was 8 - 9 weeks. I thought it was 3 weeks, Please help cos i only want to do whats best for all my Gps.

Amelia.

Ps I'm not sure how much experiance vet has with gps but i have my other pets registered with her.

Baby boars can breed from 3 weeks so separate at 3 weeks (if he's a good weight) or sooner if he starts getting humpy!

Terrible advice from the vet!

Thanks
I was sure that i was right with the 3 weeks. I think i will have to change vets because with such a big gp family i want to ensure my vet knows what they are talking about. Is there anyone who might be able recommend a vet in the south wiltshire area/hampshire area.

Yup totally agree with the 3 weeks advised above. I had some visiting piggies staying once who had 2 1/2 week old babies and one of the boys was particularly large and very frisky - quite scary to see how quickly they can mature. Your vet wants shooting, some poor unsuspecting client could well end up over run with piggies with advice like that!
